Griner/Whelan, let's settle it once and for all ...

Dec 9, 2022, 5:04 PM

Did Biden and crew have the choice to bring Whelan home, and chose to leave him behind?

Yes, I'm certain he did.
No, I'm certain he did not.
I don't know for sure, but I think he probably did.
I don't know for sure, but I doubt he was given a choice.

This is a rather ridiculous question. How are we to know if it was their choice? What we be the reason we would willfully leave an American that is being considered wrongfully detained?

I guess you missed this part ....

I don't know for sure, but I doubt he was given a choice.

You see, I realized that outside of those personally involved in the negotiations, NOBODY KNOWS FOR SURE. That's why I phrased all of the questions as I did, based on the assumption that nobody here had such knowledge, and all any of us have is opinions. So, I don't know what your point is.

You asked "What we be the reason we would willfully leave an American that is being considered wrongfully detained?"

Some people apparently believe that Biden was told he could choose one or the other, and chose Griner over Whelan, or, that he could have gotten Whelan freed in addition to Griner if he'd wanted to, but chose to free only Griner, because of political motivations.

You left one off - could Biden or Trump have

traded the M of Death for Whelan…?

Nope ...

Dec 9, 2022, 6:49 PM

That IS the question, just as I asked it:

Did Biden and crew have the choice to bring Whelan home, and chose to leave him behind?

If Biden or Trump could have traded the M of Death for Whelan (but did not), then that means that Biden and crew had that choice, but did not do it, which is what I asked.

He probably did not have a choice so instead Biden made a bad swap. Exchanging a dollar for a dime.

I agree, not sure I like setting a mass murdering terrorist

free for anything. I mean, supposedly they took Whelan off of the table, and refused to negotiate his release, because he is a supposed spy; yet we played the biggest card we had. I'm glad Griner was released, but I think we got played.

It was a disgusting move

Pretending otherwise is certainly the choice of...all.
