Dumb-dumb also played on the basketball team as did several of the football players. Will never forget we were playing Wake Forest who had a very good team. We were not very good & they were slaughtering us, when one of their players broke loose on a fast break. It was like a football play where the defensive back had the angle on the running back. Dumb-Dumb lowered the boom on him just like he would a running back. Think he was put out of the game for that tackle.

Dumb-Dumb was absolutely the greatest blocker I have ever seen anywhere! Howard's remarks of him "knocking the Missouri players out" were true!

His grandchildren really appreciated the article you posted. He died far too young, and most younger Clemson fans never heard of him, but he one #### of a man. I have talked with his old classmates and they all have stories about him. Thanks again for the post.
