hate it but good decision for him. he is almost 25

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

happy for him. Hate it for us...

Jan 13, 2016, 11:19 AM

This was a guy who came into school who by all accounts was not D1 material.

Congratulations, thanks, and good luck to him

furthermore, what DE wouldn't want to come here....

Jan 13, 2016, 11:24 AM

Seems like we're sending out top rated DE in the NFL every year. This year we send out two

Re: furthermore, what DE wouldn't want to come here....

Jan 13, 2016, 1:04 PM

agree....KD had the Alabama tackle shaking his head during the game.

you know, the fact he's 24 suggests to me

Jan 13, 2016, 12:43 PM [ in reply to happy for him. Hate it for us... ]

that this is a good move for him. He's a man. It's not like he's 20 and could really use another year of college seasoning.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

great coming out party in the title game kd, good luck!***

Thanks, Kevin

Jan 13, 2016, 11:19 AM

You are a great Tiger. More proof that hard work and heart will take you farther than star ratings. Doo doo ice could learn a thing or two from you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thanks for all your effort and hard work...

Jan 13, 2016, 11:19 AM

You laid it all on the line and played a hell of a game vs Bama. I don't blame you one bit, especially with degree in hand come May. Best of luck Mr. Dodd!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Next man up

Jan 13, 2016, 11:20 AM

I had a feeling he would go after his performance Monday night. He already had a very good season and then what he did Monday only made his case stronger.

Even more of a reason to make a push for Gary...Yes he is a DT but he is one of those rare ones that can play everywhere on the DL

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

After the game...

Jan 13, 2016, 11:23 AM

I expected Gary might jump the chance to play for us. Having so many d-linemen go pro after their Jr year makes Clemson a place to be for a kid like him.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Best of everything to him.

peed a little.

"Because at the end of the game, everyone knew that they weren’t that much better than us or better than us at all."

I am happy for him and respect his decision, but how many

Jan 13, 2016, 11:22 AM

former Clemson DL and DE's are on and off again NFL rosters? We hear good things about them in pre-season camps and then they are cut or signed to practice squads.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I am happy for him and respect his decision, but how many

Jan 13, 2016, 11:28 AM

If he has a degree and a gets drafted he will better off than 90% of the US. No student debt, a degree, unlimited connections, and he is about to probably get a minimum of multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars and maybe even millions.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If he indeed finishes this spring AND does what it takes to

Jan 13, 2016, 11:41 AM

show out at the combine, then I agree.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Getting his degree !

Jan 13, 2016, 11:23 AM

That's what it's all about .Good luck and best wishes to him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good for him, he deserves it.

Jan 13, 2016, 11:27 AM

Wish nothing but the best for him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good luck big man

Jan 13, 2016, 11:28 AM

I'd love for him to stay, and think he could greatly benefit from another year. But with his age, I don't think he could go wrong with either decision.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

His story is a great lesson in patience, perseverance

Jan 13, 2016, 11:29 AM

and hard work. At 23 it's the smart call for him. Go make us proud just as you've done here at Clemson

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

All the best to a GREAT TIGER!

Jan 13, 2016, 11:30 AM

I hope J Coker's nightmares are getting less scary.

Go give some NFL QBs some nightmares of their own.

Re: New Story: Kevin Dodd declares for NFL Draft

Jan 13, 2016, 11:31 AM

I am an Arizona cardinals fan too and on our forum there folks were fawning over how well he played and whether he will be available to them late in first round..

What a great performance in the title game.. I think Mac, Shaq and Dodd will all go in the first round.

We are a NFL farm team guys.. we will be sending a lot to the NFL every year...

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I So dislike that players leave early for the NFL

Jan 13, 2016, 11:31 AM

I hope them the best but if they were "All in" they'd feel a pull to stay. He obviously already had an agent so his decision was made a long time ago. Next man up, unless they all leave....amateur athletes are an endangered species. When we start paying athletes a monthly check and it's coming, as a trade off they should be contractually obligated to stay all 4 years. Sad thing, most of these "jumpers" won't make it. Our sidelines are littered with those jumpers that didn't make it, sad. However, in the spirit of the "All In" mantra hope I hope them success.

Re: I So dislike that players leave early for the NFL

Jan 13, 2016, 11:38 AM

How can you say that. Do you know these guys economic situation at home. Some have single mothers that are struggling with their siblings. How would you feel when you went home and saw your kid brother or sister hungry. This Is their reality. Be happy Dodd busted his but and will get rewarded with a paycheck in the league.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dodd did stay for 4 years

Jan 13, 2016, 11:41 AM [ in reply to I So dislike that players leave early for the NFL ]

he was medically redshirted in 13. Played in 2012, 3 games in 13, 2014 and 2015.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's getting his degree in May

Jan 13, 2016, 12:12 PM [ in reply to I So dislike that players leave early for the NFL ]

Can't be more ALL IN than that! He's fulfilled every requirement as a Clemson STUDENT-athlete in my book. Time for him to make some money!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's 24 and will get his degree.***

Thanks Kevin, you owe Clemson nothing.
We will have more schollies available to reload with.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thank you for all you have done Kevin

Jan 13, 2016, 11:32 AM

I have no issue with this. I have no issue with a fully developed player, who will graduate with a degree, foregoing their last year of eligibility to enter the NFL draft. He did things right. So proud of him! I look forward to watching you on Sundays.

Will Dodd project as a olb in a 3/4 or de in a 4/3. He earned it this year I wish him the best.

I sure wish he was coming back for his last year, but He had a heck of a.season this year. GO luck to you and hope to see you playing on Sunday. Also, I'm glad you are staying to get your degree and Graduating in the spring. GO TIGERS!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I saw this coming but one more year could've propelled him

Jan 13, 2016, 11:49 AM

into the first round. It is hard to tell a young man to turn down money but there is a WORLD of difference between first round money and the rest of the rounds. Thanks for all you've given us and good luck!

The struggle is real can't blame you bruh...wish you the best in the NFL but make sure you go back and get your Degree. Education is top priority you gotta have something to fall back on.

Re: New Story: Kevin Dodd declares for NFL Draft

Jan 13, 2016, 2:18 PM

He is set to get his degree this spring. The way he showed out on the big stage in the championship against the "mighty NFL" Alabama O-line - he should go to the NFL. No questions! Good luck Kevin! Another Clemson DE in the league.

Thank you Kevin! It was a pleasure watching you grow as a person and hone in on your God-given talent. I will never forget your contribution to this 2015 storyline. We appreciate you and will be cheering for you at the next level. (Go to the Giants, we need help!) :)
