Clark had the ball on her glove but could not bring it in.
also what are the announcers watching? It was pretty clear what happened and they didn't even know until the replay

Announcers are probably calling the game from their home. I don’t like Duke in bb, football,baseball, softball etc. I want us to beat Duke in whatever sport it is.

Duke has steadily improved their team. Us, not so much. Duke has added some hitting whereas we are still treading water.

Great effort. Crazy that our starter had an era of .88 or something like that and gave up 9 earned in 5. That number is gonna take a blow.

Fellas… this team just doesn’t have it.
It is sad Val will have to go out in a regional on the road bc this team will NOT be hosting even a regional.
This team has seriously regressed and honestly… I don’t think it’s as talented as people think it is.
This team can’t compete with the Oklahomas of the world and honestly neither can Duke.
They will lose in a regional or super just like last year when they played real competition.
The only real opponent in the ACC has been FSU and I don’t think they even have anything to challenge nationally this year.
Until Clemson figures out that you have to have ELITE pitching and clutch hitting to challenge nationally… it will stay this way.
Our schedule doesn’t do the girls any favors either. We should be out scheduling home and homes with OU/Bama/Texas/Tenn and not just playing them in an early season tournament once or twice.
To beat the big dogs and understand that level of competition… you have to play the big dogs and we have not done a good enough job going out and scheduling the powerhouses in softball.
This team will get run out of the stadium on the road in a regional.

Do you really think Clemson is unaware that you have to have ELITE pitching and clutch hitting to challenge nationally? Big difference in understanding and being able to achieve it.

I absolutely think they’re unaware bc they’ve done nothing to bring it in.
We have relied and leaned constantly on Val so much that her body won’t even hold up now.
So yes I absolutely believe they don’t see it or understand it.
In todays world with the transfer portal.. all it takes is to get one girl to pair with Val and boom we have a real legit contender.
Before you say well they have to reciprocate the interest… that’s true but you also have to give them a reason to reciprocate.
Oklahoma can do it… Alabama… Tennessee… an on an on an on.

You make some good points Rag. Got a bit emotional and that's understandable. I do too. Wear my heart because I want it bad.
Duke is a really good team but they're susceptible to giving up runs to good teams. Depending on their draw, they will most likely win their regional. Again, depends on draw, maybe win a super. Unless they draw Oklahoma or Texas like we did, possibly sneak into the wcws. Won't go further than that.
The schedule is made far in advance. I'm hopeful going forward we'll schedule more series. We should be able to pick up some west coast with the new acc.
As for Rittman. He's definitely not clueless. Lazy would probably be a better description. I'm not sold that he likes the 24/7 recruiting hum drum. But trust me, Clemson can draw top notch talent. I would like to see Rittman hand over the reigns to a young hungry coach. One that will actually know how and will teach hitting. For some reason, we act like we can't hit balls. I'm saying balls that would be called a ball. Nothing wrong with drawing a walk but I watch the elite teams hit drop balls out the zone all the time. They hit em like golf balls.
Most of our roster hasn't progressed. They came in, ala pie and Val with God given natural talent. That's carried us a long way. We're a good team, not elite. We can win a regional Depending on the draw.
Regan Spencer is doing her best to lead this team now. What happens going forward is up to Neff. If we don't get swept, that will be a victory in itself.
