Larenz Bryant (Please Read)

I'm as big a Tiger fan as everyone else on this board, and I am as disappointed as the rest of you that he chose the Gamecocks over Clemson, but let me step in and say a few nice words about this young man.
He is truly the epitome of a "class act" through and through. He's a respectful young man, steers clear of trouble, is an excellent student, and is a leader among his peers inside and outside of school. He is EXACTLY the kind of young man we would have wanted wearing orange on Saturdays. Not landing him is a bigger loss to Clemson than simply on the football field.
I know this firsthand because Larenz was in my classroom every day for the past year. I had the distinct honor of working with this guy on a daily basis as his teacher.
He put up with my constant jokes about the differences between Clemson and USC, and I tried my best to get him to "see the light" and to make the right choice (haha). I must have shown him a million YouTube clips of running down 'The Hill.'
From the very beginning, Larenz made it clear that his college choice would be based on the academic programs offered at the schools recruiting him. Larenz has a very specific academic area that he wants to pursue. You can't fault a kid (no matter how talented) for that. Unfortunately, USC was a little more appealing in that area to him.
Make no mistake, Clemson was high on his list over the past year. He had a great time during a visit a few months agao. But I learned a lot about this young man and his character when he was receiving a great deal of attention this spring from schools all across the country, when he said to me "They ALL offer football, but I need to find the right fit for me with what I want to pursue off the football field." Impressive to hear a 17-year-old say that, especially one being recruited from coast to coast.
I hate that he didn't pick Clemson, but I truly wish him well. If you knew the amount of time he invested in making this tough decision, I think you'd feel the same way.
Good luck Larenz! I'm sad you chose the Gamecocks, but I wish you well. You are a great football player, and an even better man...just make sure you've got your helmet strapped on a little tighter when you suit up against us!
Best,
T.

Where does box of rocks stand on the C J Spiller scale? I have heard that there are some bags of rocks that are within a SD of a sack of hammers.

I know this kid personally and believe it when I say this is a great loss for us and a great gain for our rival. Mr. Bryant is not only a great, great player, but also a very smart student and human being as well. It sure makes Clemson look like a sour jacka$$ when some of you make douch bags remarks about him and don't have the slightest clue what you're flapping your ignorant gums about. Pathetic!
