Friday, we'd already planned to hunker down so just let the snow and ice happen and made some chili.
Saturday, a lot of the same.
Sunday, cleaned the house a little bit and had football on the big tv a lot.

We took a nice walk Saturday and built a snowman with the neighbors kids. Checked in on family to make sure everyone was safe and having fun. Finally got out and about yesterday afternoon. Even a quick trip to the grocery store for crap we didn’t need was a good break.

Friday, did nothing. Sat around the house.
Saturday, took a drive to Clearwater to meet a friend.
Sunday, went to the farmers market. Watched Landman.

Cabin fever, watched more not-Clemson football in one weekend than I have all season...it's about all I did. Hardly left the house other than walking the dog because of the horrific winter DEATHSTORM (LOLUTZ).
Nothing bad but 7/19 Covids because of the boredom.

Fri afternoon - played outside in the snow with kids. Picked up pizza before dark, got home, and a car was lying on it's side at my driveway. Offered SCHP a piece of pizza but he said no thanks.
Sat - Back in the snow before the melt. Pretty decent sledding conditions with zero injuries.
Sun - Church in the morning. Worked on putting up the kid's basketball goal, almost done. Grilled burgers for dinner and played Mario Kart.

Pretty much sums it up.

Highlight was going to a Swamp Rabbits hockey game
It was fun but when did ear splitting music become a part of all sports events.
This was worse than most. It was so loud the speakers couldn’t handle it and the distortion was as bad as the volume. The announcer was unintelligible because of it.
I would think the coaches hate trying to communicate with the team.

back was bad Friday, real bad Friday night. Took some meds and tried to sleep. Went downstairs during the night to get more meds and wasn't sure I could get back upstairs, so slept part of night on couch.
Saturday up and struggling. Cold AF outside so alot of sitting around inside. Not really sure what we did, but I think my wife cleaned the house. I folded clothes and helped with laundry just to stretch out. Took a walk around the hood, 1 mile, but it was too cold to go much farther. Went to dinner with the family and wife wanted to stop by Di>ck's to look at pants for the kids. Looking at pants cost me $250. She bought MORE pants for the 9 year old who will put holes in the left knee immediately. Luckily my middle kid is in Adult sizes now so the Nike pants aren't $45, they are $65. Eff that noise.
Sunday morning felt a LITTLE better, kids axed when I was going to put together their basketball goal they bought with Christmas money so I felt bad and started that. Got 80% finished and then had to take youngest to soccer practice. Played soccer with Middle Son for an hour then back home for late lunch and grocery store run. Then watched a little football and went to bed.
Middle son has Middle School Soccer tryouts today so we focused alot on getting him hyped for it, he is nervous AF. Decent soccer player, lots of strength, a little finesse, good keeper, decent midfielder, hopefully he makes it. Their team sucked last year so I dunno if that helps or hurts.
Daughter completed her IB application process for High School next year which is weird because I am not old enough to have a kid in High School.
3/10 because cold and backpain, otherwise it was a fine lowkey weekend.

My post was perfectly level when I set it. Still the back side of post is perfectly level, but the front side is not level? How does that even happen? So right now, it is leaning back....too much. I'm probably going to end up making my own brackets so I can adjust the angle.
OR....I'm going to hook the sumbeach up to the truck and pull on it until it is level.

basketball goal.
But really, I bought one of those for $25 off Marketplace. After the kids seemed to enjoy it, I budgeted the in-ground basketball goal into the Christmas gifts.
I was just making a yolk. I know, you even said rolly was only practical solution and sometimes it do be like that. You have to be extra careful to not let the wind get it. It will bend the goal and crack the glass if it hits too hard and then you won't have a basketball goal no more.

Basketball goal true stories

Grew up with 4 boys in the house so of course we had a basketball goal. Neighbor at the time was high up with SCE&G so he had one of his crews come to our house and install a pole, yeah like the same kind of pole that power lines are hooked to. Thing was rock solid for years until we finally decided to push it over several years ago.
Only broken bone I've had (that I know of) was from slam dunking basketballs off of the back of my dad's pickup truck when I was in 6th grade, came down leaning a little too far back, threw both arms behind me to break the fall, and left ulna and radius snapped about 5 inches from my hand forming a nice little 15 degree shape of my arm. I freaked out at the time, but can laugh about it now. Parents were in Hilton Head and grandmother was at church, so had to get a neighbor to take me there and have grandmother take me to the hospital. Good times, right flow0440®?

that position AND he really enjoys it, GK can be his ticket to playing longer. Maybe even getting some NIL money (I would say "getting a schollie" but that is so passe).
lilAPM was a keeper until 1) he switched positions in a blow out with a friend who played up front and proceeded to score a gol and 2) he went to a real keeper camp and got the sh*t beaten out of him for a week. Great camp but the drills were brutal. Later that season he made the one save in a PK shootout that gave his team the win, but by then his love for playing keeper had faded. Tried to make the high school team as a forward or midfielder and could not compete with the Bosnians, Messicans, etc, who were fasted and had been playing outfield positions their whole lives.
Other than a little rec ball and intramurals at Elon, that pretty much ended his soccer career. I think he could have played a lot longer if he had stuck to keeper.

goes back and forth between liking it and wanting to move to an outfield position. I think he works well as a box to box midfield and he has the size to be a CB but he wants to play up front and get the glory.
Our advice was to try out as a keeper, he is probably good enough to make it (starting keeper is in HS now per my daughter) and then casually work into practices/scrimmages that he likes to play in the field too.
I think he MIGHT have a future as a kicker on the HS team, but our HS is a perennial football power in our area and they will probably have a lot of soccer boys who think they can kick. He has the size to play football, but he can be a bit of a baby...we are working on that.
Schollies, NIL, etc are nothing we have ever talked about. He is smart enough to do fine in school, let that take him where it may. Sports are just a great way to build leadership and teamwork skills and stay in shape.

flare up when he sits too much, especially in office chair. Also has had bulging disc (lol) issues in the past. Those combined with lack of exercise and back to work last week PLUS metal bleachers for sports tourneys meant my back went to shidd. On the mend now, but it still hurts. I have dealt with it in the past, but this weekend might have been the worse.
Wife still made fun of me, compared me to my Dad who was basically immobile before he died and then she had the audacity to tell me my back was apparently too bad to funk this weekend.

Friday - had to work late. Lots of exciting things happening, so it was ok to be working late. Got home with some Chipotle, crushed that, gave kids a hug in their beds and then watched some TV with wife. She went to bed and I walked to the bar and has two old fashion drinks and went back home.
Saturday - laundry, gym, laundry, snow blower started up good and did the driveway and back patio. Lots of basketball and football watching. Went to the bar with a BUNCH of friends. Wives went home early, we stayed out. Good times.
Sunday - took kids skiing. I didn't ski as I am NOT getting hurt before Keystone in March. If I was to get hurt on the backside of Keystone I would be fine with it, but not here. Football watching again and played a lot of Madden with my son. Wife was mad all day...not really sure about what....I think maybe stress around my FIL getting worse. I just left her alone.
Monday - woke up and went to gym. Got to work and my boss was already scheming up a ton of work for me to do today. So here we are.....

Much of the same here
Friday - stayed in awaiting the snow storm. Watched The Pitt on Max. no bad so far.
Sat. - Storm didn't really happen here. A little sleet and ice that was gone by 11am. Finally put Christmas away (except for a couple of boxes I leave out for that stray decoration we always find a week after we put everything away). Went shopping to stock daughter-of up for the move back to school.
Sun - church then to UNC-C to take daughter-of back to school. And back home (around 4 hours round trip) Ate some leftovers, watched a little of Packers-Eagles. Miss Scarlett and All Creatures Great and Small and hit the rack.

Survived the Great Snowmegeddon 2025.
Watched Tigers beat Semiholes. Watched feetball.
Stepson still not back. Succubus has probably gotten all his fluids.
Sunday more feetball. Made chicken fettuccini alfredo.
Monday had first tdrake in two days. Prairie dogged last night.
Wife gone for chemo and radiation treatments. Expecting yardman soon today. Not certain what he can do.
Wilbur is old and still alive. RIP McLovin.

Northeast-y, Amtrak-y. Still experiencing it.

This weekend will go down in the anals of APM's many life experiences.
We took the Amtrak from Da Noke to Philly and then to NYC. Why? Several reasons. Most importantly, we were taking lilAPMette back to Penn after her Crimmuss break. But APM HATES driving, especially in the northeast and especially after all the weather we have been having, AND lilAPMette and Missus PAW wanted to see the end of the run for several cast members in Hadestown a show they had seen before and loved. More on that later. Anyhow, that's the backdrop. Here's the blow by blow:
Saturday we began our journey in the snow at the station in Roanoke. Given that we had been hit over night with the second winter storm in as many weeks, I was pretty certain we would not make the train, that the roads would be cleared, etc. But to my surprise the train was on time and we began our journey northward aboard the lovely Northeast Regional. We were in business class and it was fine. A long trip, but just fine.
Saturday night we took the subway to Center City in Philly and had a great meal at La Viola Ovest, an authentic Italian joint. The absolute highlight of the entire trip for me was talking to the owner, a guy who was about 5 foot tall and stood at the entrance leaning on his cane. We had to wait for a table and I could have chatted with him all night. He had moved back from Florida after his wife died. He was bored in Florida anyhow. Had a 39-foot boat and lived around Sanibel/Captiva. Now he lives above the restaurant and works the floor most nights. Said he was lonely. APM's therapist vibes must of been apparent. He shook my hand before we took our table and gave me his food recommendation. He said he liked the penne pasta specialty of the house. He liked the energy of pasta. I took his rec and shook his hand on the way back and said we'd be back next time we're in Philly. One of the best connections with a random person I have had in a long time. G-d bless that man.
Sunday it was off to NYC for the show. Stopped at Liberty Bagels for a bite. Allegedly the best in the city (https://libertybagels.com/). Huge line, that's for sure. I got a classic nova bagel. Then it was off to 5th avenue for a little walking around and diving in fancy stores. Then off to the Kerr Theatre for the show. Ho-lee phuque. That cast was as good as advertised BUT the undisputed star of the show was Phillip Boykin, a good old Sakerlina boy who played Hades. My dawg. Standing O's before the show started, throughout at key times, and at the end it went on forever. Homey was crying as was most of the audience and cast. Glad I got to experience it. https://youtu.be/osifaK5H6NM?si=1c9eNllYZM5EuuTu
We had dinner at a highly rated pizza joint in the West Village (https://www.lindustriebk.com/). It was good but that one little slice didn't do sh*t for APM's appetite so we then hit a Salt & Straw ice cream joint. That was good. Then we walked by the Friends exterior because lilAPMette loves her some Friends (what is up with these kids?) and then made our way to the subway to get to Penn Station and take the Acela back to Philly.
Said a sad goodbye to lilAPMette on da skreets of Philly, got back to the hotel and saw the end of the Commies game.
Got up at 0430 to catch the 0537 back to da Noke.
Lessons/Observations:
1) The train was OK. Better than driving and no way was I going to drive again after our Poconos excursion. That said, the quality of the Amtrak experience is highly variable. The Acela full of students and professionals is fine. And fast. The regional was fine on the way up from da Noke but the one we're on today is old and crappy.
2) The commercialized weed experiment should end now. I get so tired of smelling weed in every touristy big city environment I go to these days. And of course it is legal in Virginny and people like to smoke it one the greenway when I go for a run. APM has nothing against weed but I promise it was not a good idea to commercialize it. Every vagrant on da skreet reeks of it, as does a homey sitting behind me on the train as I type this.
3) There are good people errwhere, as evidenced by my experience with the old dude in Philly. That said, if I am choosing lifestyles, give me my home in the Blue Ridge, the Upstate, or Cali a MILLION times before ever asking me to live in the Northeast. I just would not want to do it. Too many people in too small a space. I will say this - the beautiful young people in NYC and especially in the West Village were not fat slobs. Of course that is mostly down to SES. I have phukkin Lizzo sitting across from me on the train dis mawn.
4) APM is a phase of life that is definitely bittersweet. Diddy PAW has done passed and there are precious few of the older generation still around. APM is becoming the older generation. And APM's kids are leaving the nest. In all likelihood this Crimmuss break was the last time lilAPMette will live with us for any extended period of time and lilAPM is already out and doing his Florida Man thing. Sigh. I guess it beats the alternative.
TL;DR - APM had an epic weekend in the Northeast with all the feels.

Thursday went up to Asheville to beat the weather and maybe give away some Friday Yonder Mtn String Band tix, hit up the co-op and snagged some Lusty Monk Honey Mustard and some bulk bean and nuts, had a flight of dark beers at Wicked Weed and met some people from Cali I tried to give tix to, went to Terra Nova Beer for the first time, good beer and a cool space, chatted up some ladies from RH, the one lady owns a place in Anderson for games and loves bluegrass, did not offer up any tix, I should have asked if they knew RH Tig
first time in Asheville so toured the destruction in the River Arts district, had a beer at Wedge, glad they made it back, checked my email and saw that Yonder Mtn postponed the show until April! Good thing I didn't get rid of the tix
Friday was a blast, fueled up with a Sully's bagel sando, walked the pups around when it first started snowing, parked them at the house and took another people only walk in the snowfall, students were gathering for snowmagedon, took out the goldens to play in the snow, lot1 to lot2, saw the Tiger getting in a golf cart to probably go to the Hill and sled some, played some on the lawn at Littlejohn, I could see the d i k e and it was at least 1 to 2 deep people all the way across, people sledding everywhere, went back to the house and imbibed on homemade lemoncello spritzes until a big buzz was had
Lot of NFL on Saturday and Sunday
class starts tomorrow!

Woke up around 12am, went to bathroom, back to bed.
Saturday woke up around noon. Laid in bed until around 2, went to get lunch and truck battery was dead again, but it eventually cranked up.
Watched some dumb movies, went back to bed.
Woke up sometime Sunday afternoon still sick AF, went to get lunch, truck battery dead again. Decided I better fix that. Went and bought a battery--That was a Wal Mart $200 Greenr--spent an hour doing that, now my AC and SiriusXm don't work. Internet says this is regular and wait they will magically return.
Haven't gone to check this morning if this is a true-ism. If not, it has to go to the dealer. I think I may sell this thing.
Stayed up all night (like until 4 am) watching Lionness. Taylor Sheridan is a dooshnozzle actor, but not as much as he was as an actor in Yellowstone.
5 hours later, here I am, tired Af.

Spent Friday night at the farm, shot my limit of wood ducks Sat AM, spent the rest of the day refreshing duck boxes, moving trail cams, resetting traps. Did my grocery shopping for the week yesterday, now back to the grind. I turn 37 this week.

Friday (Bench - 305), Saturday (Squat - 460) and Sunday (Deadline (495). 2 weeks into a cut and needed an excuse to refeed so had to go heavy. This puts me squarly in the 1250 lbs club and means I can stop being a chubby piece of #### now in the name of being skrong. I'm going aesthetic now with some motivation from dawghater23®
Date night on Friday night that was pretty good. Sunday, Watched my Bronocos get their arses handed to them. Still 2 drafts away from being legit contenders. Bo Nix has surprised me this year.
Got all my grill parts assembled and cooked some wangs and a nice steak on it and they turned out good.
Did some winter clearning and reorganizing of closets and such.
My dog frew up all over the place last night so I had to clean that up. Happy Monday.

Doing that kinda weight at that kinda time under tension (i.e. no resting on the pecs at the bottom of the movement), requires an absolutely retarrded amount of endurance and strength.

Came down with cold previous weekend that moved into chest and then turned into a sinus infection with a nice touch of pink eye.
Friday work from home cause sick and factory closed because of winter weather threat. Got enough snow for kids to sled in it. They had fun. Felt like cheet all weekend and just watched sports and TV the whole time. Tiger BB looked good. Steelers sucked.
Feel like I'm finally on the mend today.

Fri- Hung with son of while husband of took daughter of to her team horse riding practice 45 min up the road. Always nice to have one on one time with the boy since I end up having primary daughter/horse duty while husband does son/baseball. We ordered pizza, played games and I tried to talk him into watching Glen Powell in Twister with my but he was uninterested.
Sat- Finally got the Chrismas decor to the storage unit, did 100 loads of laundry, cleaned out my closet. Son of spent the night with grandparents and daughter of busy with friends so had a rare dinner date with husband of at a newish Mediterranean restaurant here. While the meal was good, it was overpriced and came with a tatted/belly dancer who shouldn't be wearing a two piece. Too bad we ain't got a Pita House here.
Sun- Up early to the barn with my daughter to watch a lesson followed by an afternoon beachside drink with a friend. So much for dry January, but it will probably be the only drink in January. Ended the night with having to have a long heart to heart with daughter of about some upcoming competitions she's doing, she wants to jump higher than she's ready for so we had to adjust our expectations a little. She's the hardest working kid I know, but her own horse is injured and rehabbing so she (the horse, not the kid) probably can't compete this year which has set her back a little in terms of progression. She's got to borrow a less than ideal pony to compete with. I hit the lottery with this kid, she's wise and mature beyond her years. She's gonna be ok.

Friday Grilled pork chops and football
Saturday - didn't really have anything to do, so went two hours south to hang with my old roommate, play Golden Tee and watch Tiger hoops. Also a huge Del Jones fan
Whooped him good in GT. Stopped at a buddy's on the way back to Orlando to watch his Steelers get bludgeoned. I chuckled, but only under my breath
Sunday - retirement party for a colleague. Got to see lots of people I don't get to see anymore. Came back for nap and football. Made crab stuffed flounder for dinner that was quite good.
17/19 COVIDS. -1 for no live music and -1 for having to drive to S Florida where it was still only 64 degrees
