Friday night, surprise trip to Harbor Freight for 20% off a single item for Inside Track club members. I'm not quite ready (and frankly want other brands) for their big tools so I got a work light. Then an surprise attending of Shoeless Beer share. Went to Tasty's Soul Food for supper. Place is legit.
Saturday, off to a different Harbor Freight because I had a 25% off coupon and it was finally time to get the work bench I'd been looking at for years. I could not have build a similar bench with drawers for less than I got this one for. It isn't mobile so I will probably still need to build another, but still a welcome upgrade. After HF went of to Engineered Sleep to check out their beds. $3100 for what we wanted, don't know if I can swing that. Will probably start another thread later about bed stuff. After that up to Lowe's food in Five Forks for a beer then back home where we get invited over to some friends' for a fire and more beer.
Sunday, start to put the bench together, did it on YouTube live where I realized half the time I wasn't in frame because I had to film vertically. I also wasn't talking a lot, just working and trying to figure things out. Got most of they way done, then stopped so I could smoke some Chicken thighs.

Fri night and Sat morning - Men's event at Church
Sat night - Celebrated BIL's birthday at our house
Sun morning - Picked up me new to me boat at everyone's favorite vacation destination. Wife asked me when I would be home before I left at 8:20 a.m. I said about 4:00. Rolled up the drive at 3:59 p.m. like a boss.
Went to mom's for dinner and watched The Night Agent before bed.

I'd like to get a 250 for my boat, but not sure its worth 20-25K for 50 more HP. I guess I could get a 300 (its the same engine) and change the cowling.
If I'm going to do all that, I'll just buy another boat. The new 25' Sportsman bay boat is sweet.

I see the results online. I have to go from a 25 to probably a 27P prop. I have 2 25s now with the boat.
Hoping to sell my boat today - I have someone coming by.
According to online info, the flash will push it from 63 mph to about 80 mph and somehow increase overall fuel efficiency. Yeah, it sounds too good to be true, but it's apparently been around a while.

I've never known anyone who did it. Most folks around here are worried about getting back home more so than how fast they can go, and usually, it's not the boats speed that is the limiting factor for their speed. I'm single engine as well, and even though I rarely get out of sight of land--I'm still not risking it.
No way I want to pop an engine trolling near shore reef 4 miles off, then hope a storm doesn't blow up in my bay boat while someone comes to get me.
Man just thinking about being caught in a storm in a powerless boat at near shore reef or the end of the jetties gives me the willies thinking about it.

I'd get more benefit if I moved my batteries to the center console, or put lithium batteries in it to shed ~100 pounds.

Yardwork Saturday. Then drove up 501 to Slabs for their steak night. Suppose to start at 5. We get there at 4:30 the line is already wrapped around the restaurant and out the door. My patience was not that great so I kind of ruined the night.
Ended up eating at Pizza Roma where I grew up eating roast beef subs.
Sunday was laundry and housework.
For you 90s fans, Home Improvement is on Netflix. I grew up watching that. I know now why it was on once a week. Back to back to back you get annoyed with the same plot lines

We pair up new hunters with more experienced hunters. I saw zero on our first sit. I passed on a doe early the second sit. We had a couple of four points in easy range but our new hunter didn't want to take a shot at them and I didn't want to shoot a small buck. We saw a VERY nice eight point but it never came close enough for a shot.
A buddy in another stand killed a good eight point. I probably saw 40 deer over three sits, which is incredible (for me) in Alabama.

The season is probably waaaaay too long. Bow starts mid-October. Gun starts the week before Thanksgiving.
We were on some private land in the Blackbelt, south of Selma. That's probably the best area in the state as far as both deer numbers and quality.
North Alabama tends to have much lower numbers, but you can kill some monsters if you do your research and don't mind mountains. If you are looking public, Bankhead NF and the WMAs in Jackson County are known for good deer. However, both are very rough terrain.
This one was killed this past weekend, close to the Tennessee line: https://imgur.com/ICd59ig
I'm glad to pass along any info I might have.

cheapazz PLASTIC screw cap broke off. Luckily could close the valves back and we have hot water, but the tank can't be flushed without a new cheapazz plastic crap screw cap. So plumber coming out.....&*$%*&$%.
Did a little work too. Called my Venezuelan interpreter, who is in Israel, to do a conference call with a guy in Huehuetenango. Amazingly, the guy had all of the necessary documents and sent them via WhatsApp. PennyTalk let me down and had to call with WhatsApp to get a connection. Little known fact, in central America many people have data service, but no telephone call service. So you will not be able to connect calling normally, but in WhatsApp they get the call (via data) and you can talk just like a phone call.
Did a Food Lion grocery run, saved $50. Again. Eggs were $6 for the jumbo dozen, yikes. Sam's had no eggs.

Friday: nothing because.......
Saturday: went to what is called Antemesaris, The People's Party out in the middle of nowhere (Florida Sand Music Ranch in Brooksville) This is where the cool bands from Orlando and Tampa get together for a 4 day camping and music fest. I only got to see Saturday, but was there all night. Saw all kinds of fun people, sold lots of Girl Scout cookies and just had a blast. Music was terrific. Got to take a friend who experienced it for the first time and was extra grateful.
Sunday: Tigers on DVR with yet another excellent road win and bbq chicken and fried some okra for dinner. The Clash was pretty entertaining even though Denny couldn't stay out front.

Mostly excellent...EXCEPT FOR BIRDS.
11
11

Friday, quiet work day, which is always good. Finished uo and took the pup for a long walk, got home and Mrs. and I were bouncing around ideas for what to do when we realized that a wren had gotten in the house. Chased that stupid bird for almost 3 hours before getting trapped in my studio. Not what I intended for my Friday night.
Saturday, woke up to realize that the bird did not go out the night before, but opened the window again and this time he flew right out. Walked the pup around the lake, then we got ready and headed to a pal's afternoon birthday soiree. My pal is one of the best drummers in the area and owns a recording studio, so mostly musicians there and some LOUD rock and roll was played. Party died down around 6:00 so we went home and let the animal menagerie go outside, then rode up to Ilios Greek in Fort Mill. Delicious as usual, came home and pretty much did nothing the rest of the night.
Sunday, hike with pup, grocery run, then up to Charlotte to see the documentary film about the Milestone Club. It was EXCELLENT, and brought back so many memories of bands that I saw there. Almost a little surprised I wasn't in some of the pictures but everybody wasn't walking around with cameras back in those days. There was a panel discussion after with a bunch of independent venue owners which was great to hear.
18.9/19 Covids overall, minor deduction for chasing a stupid bird.

Highlight was sea trialing/break in of a buddies rebuilt '76 23' Sea Craft on Saturday. It started life a cuddy cabin, and his ex FIL had that removed, made a new cap for it and made it a Center console and put an engine bracket on it.
My buddy bought it 2 1/2 years ago as an empty shell about 80% complete, and after 4 or 5 people saying they could finish it and only finding 1 that could, he finally got it back. We put 4 hours operating time/break in on a brand new 2016 Suzuki 300 outboard. The electronics are all 4-5 year old vintage, but brand new--but with 4-5 year old vintage software, so they were glitchy, and I'm not sure all the networking is correct, but the boat ran well. It takes waves better than most boats 3-5' longer. But like all boats with an engine bracket, sucks in close quarter docking maneuvering.
And I know it felt warm on shore, but it was cold as ish in the harbor.
Later went to see a comedy show by a friend of a friend, ended up at the southern. Got home around 1:40 AM and felt it all day Sunday. Lunch at Home Team, back to bed at 3pm.

Fri - called work early and went to the gym. early crash
Sat - Another surveying gig. Staked out a house and a building addition. Found property corners for a guy and listened to him complain about not be able to do anything he wants on his own property.
Sun - Church. Practiced guitar chords for a while. Still trying to mix it up a little going from chord to chord. Trying to determine if my old fingers are too slow or my old brain. Or both.

Friday got kicked off a project. First time in almost 20 years of work that I have been removed from a project. It was a huge clusterfunk before I got on it, before anyone got on it that still works here, but they don't like the fact that I won't work 70 hours a week on someone else's big mistake.
Then wife and daughter left to go to Charlotte for Volleyball tourney. Take boys to Boys Night pizza, wife calls and is lost on the road. She has GPS, it keeps telling her to turn around but she thinks that is wrong. I check her location, she needs to turn around. Long story short, she needs to pay attention when I drive everywhere, she is a TERRIBLE navigator.
Up Saturday and drive both boys to Holly Springs/Apex/Cary area for Soccer Tourney. 4 games at three different parks, only one of me, crazy day. Middle kid goes 2-0, youngest goes 1-1. Middle son's team didn't win at all last season, big for them. 10 goals is more than they scored all of last year. Drive home just in time to go to sleep.
Up Sunday, drive BACK to Holly Springs/Apex/Cary for day 2. Middle son ties another Wilmington team 1-1, Youngest son's team goes 2-0 and finishes 2nd overall. Middle son then has to rematch the team they tied for the gold medal. This is the third time we have played them, tied them AGAIN, 1-1. My son is the keeper. We go to a penalty shootout. He saves 2 penalties (almost three) and scored a pen. He is HYPE AF, Greenr is super pumped, perfect day for them. Incredible to win a tourney after their last season. Drive home by 6:00, showers, unload, grocery run. Wife calls, she is leaving Charlotte. 277 is blocked off with a bad wreck and she wants to know if driving toward Rock Hill will get her around the traffic. Greenr has to AGAIN navigate her back home, this time without knowing what roads are blocked, using the same apps and capabilities that she has in her car.
Daughter's team played in the highest division for her age group which was new for them. Only won once, but were super competitive in every game, all came down to a third set except getting BLOWN OUT by the team that won it all. Apparently daughter played well, she was happy with the performance.

Friday...wife and I battled the norovirus throughout the week. She had is worse than I did. I was more of less in decent shape by Friday. Daughter-of had BB game in Greenwood, so I drove down there to see that. We were missing our 2 top scorers and ended up losing by 6. Daughter-of had a meh game. Post-game dinner at Capris, which was very good. Long and dark drive back to Anderson in the rain with not much sleep was a lot of fun. Son-of got the news that he got hist 1st job - so that was big.
Saturday...made a grocery run, watched Tiger BB get a good road win while not playing very well, don't remember much else
Sunday...up early for church. Son-of and GF joined for the 2nd week in a row. Lunch at Logans. Spent 3 hours doing some grill repairs and re-seasoning my griddle, which was in really bad shape. Cover had been leaking water and when I pulled it off, there was 2 inches of standing water and totally rusted. Installed a new metal cover and got that bad boy back in decent shape after 6 rounds of seasoning. Made some mexican chicken and lime/avocado rice for me and daughter-of. Did some work work and hit the bed early.
Pretty uneventful weekend, which was what we needed after pissing out of all holes during the week.
