ESPN keeps saying ND is a two point conversion from being undefeated. My math says they needed a three point conversion or overtime and a lot of their famous luck.

While they did have an opportunity to tie the game, at no point during the game did Notre Dame even remotely challenge for the lead let alone have a realistic chance to win.

In truth, it was a VERY close game. But, Clemson won and that is the way it is. Tommy Bowden would have found a way to lose that game.

qtr. At that point we started playing the clock instead of continuing to thump ND. The only reason they had a chance to tie was we completely changed our gameplan. It very nearly bit us in the butt.
I effing hate prevent defense. The only thing it prevents is stopping the other team. When you're up like that, Katy bar the door! Keep the pedal to the metal and plow their behinds to the final whistle.
But that's just me, I guess.
We won the game. Got the stop that mattered and beat an excellent team. I just wish ESPN didn't have a leg to stand on when they try to dismiss the loss as being on account of rain.

It was also impressive how it was clear when we were on offense and pouring rain when they were. I also didn't know that when you're down by 2 points it only takes 2 points to win the game.

most national folks forget that we dominated almost 80% of that game. Their 1st 2 scores were on big plays underneath when ironically we were trying not to give up the big play.
So they get to say that they only lost to the #1 team by 2 and we get to say we beat the #4 team. They have far and away the best loss and we have far and away the best win. Had they not had their 4th qtr comeback they would have significantly dropped in the rankings and the committee's eyes.
