dangerous conditions of lightning, possibility of injury practicing on a wet field, managing the hours the coaches have w/ the players so that the practice time is as productive as possible. The coaches only have the players for so many hours each week including game time. You can't be standing around for an hour waiting for a thunderstorm to pass...the clock doesn't stop just because you do.

I wasn't suggesting to play through conditions you wouldn't play a normal game in (lightning, thunder, etc.), I just meant winds, mild rain, heat, cold, whatever. Of course it's good for avoiding injuries, i just meant not everything can be simulated in an indoor environment

absolutely needed...I can see where it would be a good in a fall/summer camp scenario where you want to practice but get the kids out of the heat...where you want to give their legs/bodies a chance to bounce back...the coaches aren't going to use it otherwise.

in our basketball arena on the bad days...the day was a total waste....you couldn't really practice situations...kicking game was gone...you essentially turned the day into a walk through.

EVERY TIME some non-ACC school invests in their program.
Of course, we'll never hear praise for Clemson in the ACC from the same people when we make massive investments in our facilities, get the #1 recruit in the country, have the highest paid assistant coaching staff in the country, etc, etc.
Exhausting.

Agreed. I feel like there was a bit of overkill...areas where they could have used the money in better places, even if it was for the football team. For one, I've heard Netland Stadium is notorious for having the shittiest seating environment in the country. Maybe they could have improved the stadium somehow.
However the indoor facility looks incredible.

How does our facility compare?
Jun 20, 2012, 3:24 PM

Our facility is new and up to date. How do we compare to theirs? It stinks that we have a brand new facility and will be behind TN once theirs is built. Wish we could had incorporated our practice fields, etc with the facility. Nice how the training room at TN overlooks the practice fields, and the coaches offices overlook the indoor training facility.
Maybe we had room at the current practice fields to build the same thing.

+1 for us.
Basically the same. 95% of our stuff is located IN THE STADIUM instead of the practice field. Our practice fields are across the street, big whoop.
I don't think we have a pharmacy though.

outside of Death Valley...in the parking lot right behind the WEZ...that way you wouldn't have to shuttle back and forth....that's not going to happen.

Things are getting out of hand with this Facility race. Teams need nice facilties and all but this is possibly the nicest athletic practice facility in the world. No one, not even pros can match. Sports are great, but much of this money could be used to support Academic causes, especially right now.
