Big mistake on his part, in my opinion. He lacks the size and strength at this point, I saw an NFL analyst on TV say exactly the same thing.

He basically needs to put on about 10-15 more lbs, that can easily be done after the season and work his way into shape for the combine. I would prefer him to come back too, but at 235 now...its not impossible to get to 245-250 in one off season. He would just need to prove he's still productive and fast at that weight.

I will wish him well. Probably an OLB in a 3-4 defense in the NFL, but he has the speed and quickness to cover RB's and TE's as necessary.

The game has changed - back then, college football wasn't a hundred billion dollar business like it is now. These kids aren't fools - they see the money that's floating around, see that they aren't getting a cut of it (other than their scholarship, which they can't sell or otherwise convert into cash immediately) and it isn't hard to understand why they jump at the first opportunity they get to make real money.
Good for Vic - I wish him nothing but success - especially over the next month of his career...

He is still learning the DE position. Another year would probably make him a top 5-10 pick, or better. Even with a great combine showing he will probably only be a late first round choice at best (imo) because of weight. The difference in money will be millions over his career if he is late first round or anywhere in the second round.
Other factors he is probably considering are academic. I don't know what his grades are or if he enjoys his major/classes. I know I'd have left after my junior year if I could have, because I realized I didn't want to spend the rest of my life in my major and Clemson didn't have what I wanted to do.
In any case I wish him good luck when he does leave.

Would benefit coming back and improve on being a every down player. Even in 3-4 defenses, the outside backers are expected to stop the run. Vic will not be drafted as high as he thinks and with the new slotted salary for rookies, he'll never be able to recoup that money over a career.

and most even see him in the top-half of the 1st round. He has the perfect combination of size and speed to be a very disruptive outside linebacker in the NFL, and scouts will see that.
It would be a huge risk for him to stay in my opinion. It's not like he's some prospect who will be lucky to be drafted in Round 3...He will have at least a $3 million signing bonus, and it will probably be closer to $7 miillion.

he were to maintain that level of performance, he would be foolish to not go pro. It is highly unlikely that next year he would get the same treatment by opposing offenses and reach the same or similar number of sacks, much like Clowney this year. NFL teams know that, with no school to worry about, they can put some quality muscle on a talented performer by next season and don't need to weight(  ) another year for him to put weight on.

And the answer to that question is that, if he continues at this pace, he will not improve his stock by returning for another year. He doesn't need "development." He needs a little more muscle and they can put more on him prior to next season than he could gain in a year in a college program.

Can I ask which team you work/worked for? If you do have NFL scouting experience, I'd appreciate your insight as to why you think he should not come out this year, when so many "insiders" project him as a 1st rounder.

He would be dumb to come back and risk injury or the fact that next year he would be double and triple teamed making those numbers drop considerably which will hurt his drafty stock you go while you're hot period. Vic had a very good year last year on a very limited snap count so he has proven already he isn't a one hit wonder. Plus the NFL covets 3rd down pass rushers they can fill the 1st through 2nd downs then let the Beast out of his cage on 3rd but he has proven to be an every down DE he has the ability to fight through double teams and chase a RB or WR down from the back side so yes very good decision for Vic IMO.....

This seems like a BIG mistake...
There's only going to be 32 first round picks and another 32 second rounders. Given the seniors and the juniors we already know are coming out (J. Clowney, Sammy Watkins, etc.) he's unlikely to be a top pick and there's still a lot of juniors (and maybe redshirt sophomores like Johnny Manziel) that we don't know about yet. Beasley has good numbers this year, but he's a tweener. Too small for a pro defensive end and he doesn't seem to have the skill set for outside linebacker. Remember that we tried him at linebacker back when we were REALLY struggling there (Corico Hawkins?) and he couldn't break into the depth chart. Vic could really use another year in the weight program to get up to around 250 - 265 lbs otherwise he’s limiting himself to being an option for a team looking for a designated pass rusher.
As for his film, Beasley did play well against Georgia. That helps, but his film against the rest of our weak competition (SC State, NC State, Wake, Syracuse, BC and Maryland) is going to be viewed skeptically by a lot of scouts. If he wants to be a high pick this year he's going to need to show that, even at this size, he can take over against pro-quality competition. I doubt the Virginia and Citadel game films will carry much weight and he was completely neutralized in the FSU game that scouts were definitely watching.
GT will be a prime-time, "only game on TV" chance for him to shine but with the offense they run he may not get much opportunity to pad his stats. So, it would seem he's going to need a monster, All-World game against Carolina to help his stock and it’s only after that game when he should think about leaving early. If he plays great and routinely runs down the "elusive" Conner Shaw then he MIGHT be able to sway some scouts into considering him in the second or third round. If not then his 2014 NFL Draft could turn out to be a long, long wait.
One last thing to note is that the guy who currently owns our single-season sack record was a two-time All-American who left early for the draft. Keith Adams' size issues kept him from being picked until the end of the seventh round. In fact, he was among the last few COMPENSATORY picks that occur at the very end of the draft, pick #232 (32 teams * 7 rounds = 224 picks). So, technically, Keith wasn't picked until after the draft was over.
It seems pretty simple to me. Vic Beasley should stay in school, get bigger, get stronger and fill a trophy case with national awards that make it impossible to look past him.

That 235 lb number is a huge knock against him. That's going to make scouts analyze everything before they invest a high pick in this guy. NFL offensive tackles are elite players -- there's only 32 starting left tackles in the entire world. Scouts are going to look at how Beasley performed against really good competition. Can he compete against an NFL quality lineman? Well, how did he do against FSU?
You seem to believe that these stats against SC State and ACC teams, universally regarded as "weak", are going to sway scouts. That's not backed up by history. People thought Keith Adams was going to be a high pick. Didn't happen. They said Daquan Bowers would be a top ten pick if not the first overall. Didn't happen -- late second round. Dwayne Allen was supposed to be the first tight-end taken. Didn't happen -- third round and wasn't even the first tight-end taken by the Colts that year. Don't believe the hype. If you don't have the height / weight / 40 time that scouts want then you better have a 4 year resume of awesomeness to make up for it.
One last point, Keith Adams left as a junior despite insistence that was too small and was barely even drafted. Tye Hill was supposed to be too small to play corner against NFL receivers. He stayed all four years, padded his resume with a great senior year and was a first-round pick. It matters.

Eric Fisher is 6'7", 306 with the frame to easily carry more weight without losing much agility. Those long arms give him a huge wingspan and thus a big advantage over defenders who won't be able to engage him and get into his body. Size is the thing that Beasley desperately lacks. He's not going to get into the league based on physical attributes. He's got to do it with eye-opening performances against big-time players. Let's see if he can because the film against Florida State -- the game all NFL scouts wanted to see -- isn't going to do him any favors.

either didn't see him or forgot what he looked like at weigh ins before the season. He was about to pop. He can't put on much more weight in that upper body. Mel Kiper also has him as a first rounder, along with numerous other "experts." His stock isn't getting any higher. Anyways, have you guys paid attention to our S&C program? He's not putting on any more weight here

I'd love to see him come back, but i think he's absolutely making the best decision for himself if he goes pro. NFL scouts are going to have enough film on him after this season and he's not like to get any bigger or faster with one more year at CU. The guy already looks to be in the best shape of anything on the team and probably the strongest pound for pound.
His stock is rising and a great combine performance (which i think he's completely capable of turning in) is only going to make it climb more.
