We had to say goodbye to our dog of 11 years suddenly and unexpectedly last night.
Cooper was the best dog I've ever had. We are all taking it pretty hard because it came out of nowhere. He was fine Saturday night and gone Sunday night.
We got to say our goodbyes and I was there holding his head as he slipped away. By far, one of the toughest things I've ever had to do.
Losing a pet is hard. He was a family member and will be missed.

I just went through that 4 weeks ago. It got better after about a week, at least it wasn't heart wrenching and I quit tearing up every time I thought about him. Not much better since. It's still really tough.
The years of joy are much greater than the months of pain.

He was a Goldendoodle. Admittedly, I wasn't sold on the idea of a doodle, but my middle son was allergic to dog dander at the time and Cooper was hypoallergenic. Boy, was I wrong. One of the best all-around dogs I've ever had.

I lost the best dog I ever had back in November; one day shy of his 16th birthday. It never gets easier, and even though we know it always ends with this heartache, we go right back out, get another one, and forget how much it's going to hurt again. But the journey is worth it.
I'm always struck by this Willie Morris quote about his dog:
"I wonder at the fate that, out of the incalculable void, brought the two of us together for our mortal moment on this planet."

our boy was named cooper and lost him 3 years ago.
coop was like my son. we were outnumbered in the house by the ladies - who adored him. grew up with the girls and loved to walk/run with the ex.
think about him a ton. he is irreplaceable.
your coop looks like a bestest boy. totally sucks.
