There's only one thing that scares me about Saturday...

Nov 25, 2015, 11:39 AM

A fight...an all out brawl. Something similar to 2004. The coots know they can't beat us, but they also know that we had to forfeit the postseason after the 2004 fracas. USC can beat us in ways much worse than on the field Saturday. They can completely destroy our playoff future and dash our national title hopes with one big fight. All they have to do is get us riled up enough, and then emotion takes over.

If you think the coots haven't thought about this, you're crazy.

gonna have to put chains and a muzzle on Boulware!!!

Good point. Have not thought about that but hope

Nov 25, 2015, 11:41 AM

the coaches have!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Of course they've thought about it but so have our coaches

Nov 25, 2015, 11:42 AM

I am 100% sure CDS and all our coaches are going to prepare them for this.

I also think their coaches want to coach again and so they will not condone or encourage fighting.

Our players need to let their play make their statement. As hard as it is to walk away from someone in your face it would actually make the coots look even more pathetic for our players to just walk away.

Agreed. It really worked out well for Miami during pre-game...

fight and then come back and face Dabo and Brent?

Nov 25, 2015, 11:44 AM

no way that is happening. Our players are becoming men and have far too much respect for Clemson and for our coaches.

we didn't HAVE to forfeit anything

Nov 25, 2015, 11:47 AM

not sure where you people get these random thoughts

Re: we didn't HAVE to forfeit anything

I was thinking this as well. Even so, as difficult as it would be, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dabo do the same thing in a similar situation.

That said, I think this is a much different team, and much more focused. I would hope they would not allow things to get out of hand like they did in '04.

But, we have a whole new staff and players than we did in 04. I think Dabo has instilled a lot more class and discipline in these players. They play hard and nasty and tough, but they aren't dirty players. I think it would take a lot more to get these young men to act like that, plus there is a whole bunch more at stake with this team than back then. I would hope they would be smarter than that.

what scares me even more is an attack on DW. I mean a purposeful injury attempt.

Re: There's only one thing that scares me about Saturday...

Why would they do that? They already know he can beat them on one leg as it is...they do that, and their entire program will be the complete mockery of all of college sports, for years to come. No coach will want to come there. No parent will want their players a part of it.

it used to have less "fight"

We bowed out of the bowl game that year voluntarily

Nov 25, 2015, 1:35 PM

Not sure why people think we were "forced" to do anything. I guarantee that if the C0cks start getting chippy and wanting to fight, it will be obvious who the aggressor is.

I have no problem with our guys defending themselves. And you'd better believe that we will still go to the Orange Bowl and win it!

I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks; but I do fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times. - Bruce Lee

I've read this from some younger fans too....

Nov 25, 2015, 1:45 PM

and you're correct: both schools were rightfully mortified and penalized themselves to no post-season play---the Tigers probably missed on a bigger bowl and payout

I don't know how its gotten misconstrued as some sort of NCAA or conference penalty....but the lamecocks did initiate the problems, and lost both the fight and the game (and one helmet--briefly)

My thoughts too.

I have a hard time believing that Clemson would withdraw itself from playoff consideration due to a scuffle at an away game where the opposing players/fans were the main aggressors. Regardless of the outcome of the fight.

Dabo wouldn't let it happen, I'm sure they will be prepped

Re: There's only one thing that scares me about Saturday...

Nov 25, 2015, 1:53 PM

If you haven't realized that during that year, the coaches are who put that bowl ban on themselves, then you need to go back and look it up. You really think Swinney will ban this team from its best shot at a national title because the jealous little sister wants to fight with big brother? Go back on FGF...we'll be going to the ACC -CG and the playoffs, regardless what the little league team wants to do in their jealous fit of childish rage.

Re: There's only one thing that scares me about Saturday...

Clemson isn't about that life anymore. We're about that national championship life something the coots don't know.

Re: There's only one thing that scares me about Saturday...

Why do fans worry about stoopid stuff? It's more feasable that an athlete gets injured than an all out brawl to occur. Sorry if I just gave you something else to worry about but it's football.
I'm more concerned with idiot coot fans throwing batteries and cans at our players again. The players on both sides I believe will play respectfully, just a hunch. The usUcK team itself will not be out to embarass themselves or the institution by causing some uproar. Will tempers flare at some point? Most likely. But nothing out of the ordinary.
GO TIGERS!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Coaches get paid to prepare players, dont worry our boys won

Nov 25, 2015, 1:56 PM

get drawn in to that mess.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're crazy if you think this is a worry.

Nov 25, 2015, 1:58 PM

Think this is the first time a situation like this hasn't happened? Every year the #1 team plays a game at the end of the year against a rival...and most years that rival has nothing to play for except the big upset.

2004 was a mistake by us in responding to their crap (punishment was too harsh, but forget that).

I'm more worried about a bad call on 'helmet to helmet' or something causing us to miss a key defensive player early v UNC. We're going to need them.
