4th street is really fun and the bars are open late

If your kids are old enough they can go into the bars with you, if not they can wait outside but I'd recommend they pack heat just in case...Louisville can get a little rough.

bridge over to Indiana (Big Four bridge maybe?). Lots of bands and stuff in the park area on the river west of that bridge. There is also a lot of good stuff as mentioned over at 4th street. Somewhere in between the two would be ideal.

I'd recommend staying in Lexington.
Louisville is not an ideal location for the kiddies but if you insist on taking them, depending upon their ages, the Louisville Slugger bat factory is worth the time and price of admission.
You might also consider a drive up to Williamstown, KY (about an hour and-a-half from Louisville and an hour from Lexington) and check out the Ark Encounter.

We really enjoyed time at Churchill Downs. They ran races the day of our game and we were able to walk from there to the stadium. May or may not be your thing.
I would also second the slugger museum.
We stayed at the Seelbach Hilton. It was nice but I don't know that I'd recommend that with children. The hotel's charm is in its age but I doubt kids would appreciate it. It was across the street from a good Brazilian steakhouse and a blocked off street clearly meant to be the party spot (bars and no cars).

and definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately there are no races the day of the game but it will be open for tours. Anyone going should also consider booking reservations to dine in Millionaires Row. Just remember, it's more about the experience than the food.

The Gault House on the river is pretty decent. The Sunday morning brunch used to be incredible. We used to hold our Marine Corps Balls there. Other than that Lexington is probably your best bet for lodging. The Louisville Slugger factory is cool. The Ky Derby museum and Frazier Historical Museum are good too.

4th Street Live go early with the kiddo's
If they are into fossils, there is a park across in Indianna at the Falls of the Ohio that's kind of cool. You can see fossils.
They might enjoy going to see the locks on the Ohio to see barges in and out (like the Tailrace Canal Lock but way bigger)

There's a Hilton Garden Inn within walking distance of the stadium and Churchill Downs. Louisville Slugger place is a good place to check out.

My kids are 5 and 11 ,so I guess it sounds like go to the game and get out of town ,I’ve stayed at Gaut house a long time ago but it’s says rooms are being renovated,
