I would say stars are more important than ever. We live in a different world these days with all the camps and online media at our finger tips. It's much easier for the recruiting services to elvaluate talent than ever before. Not to say 3 stars can't grow into future NFL prospects, just saying most 4 and 5 star players aren't overrated.

back down to reality. They've been in denial for a while, but it's finally starting to sink in that they're a middle of the pack team with average recruiting classes at best. There are still some delusional fans who are running their mouths about a 9 or 10 win season and a W over us, but it seems they are in the minority now. After a long day at work, I needed something to positive to end my day with. Thank you for this gem! It brought a smile to my face!

Everything is getting back to normal except one thing we are a every year threat to be a top 10 team. Clemson is knocking on elite status and the Coots are falling way behind us. As long as DW stays healthy we are a bonifid contender to win it all.

"Your 4 or 5 year average has to be in the top 10 to win it all, except for Auburn who's ranking was just outside of the top 10 [when they last won the NC]. Like it or not but Dabo gets it, and they're piling up talent like NEVER before...."
And I'll say, "believe it or not" one'a dem coots apparently has the intelligence to read the writing on the wall. Must've done his undergraduate work somewhere else, or at least graduated high school.

Remember during the Bowden years how we could read on Tigernet how stars don't matter and how we went 6-5 in 1980 and then won it all, so the fact that we suxored year meant that we might just win it all again year.
Yeah, times had not changed no matter how much people wanted to make excuses. Bowden couldn't win anywhere.
Dat Boy, however, is a winner.

..but here are some that caught my attention. Thanks for sharing!
- "Like it or not, our time to win the SEC Championship has slipped by and is gone".
- "Today, we more closely resemble SC circa 1979 than SC circa 2012".
- "You can sugarcoat it any way you want, but recruiting isn't going all that well".
- "Like it or not but Dabo gets it, and they're piling up talent like NEVER before".
The sky is indeed falling, Chicken Little. Bless your little heart.

Okay so I read and analyzed that. They are curious to what is Clemson doing differently? I got their answer....consistent production.
What Dabo has done is taken 3 star talent and turned them into 5 star people. I remember Tommy Bowden once saying "I was okay at Clemson because they were okay with 8-9 wins." And through his tenure, we were that team. He recruited what he thought Clemson could get, the 3 star and occasional 4-star recruit. And we settled for 8-9 wins as long as he beat South Carolina. Some fans were okay with this. Not all of us were. Clemson had won a national championship and it wasn't fair to be just average and beat our rival. After the debacle verses Alabama, we allowed this WR coach to take over with a dream. It started with CJ Spiller when Swinney was still a WR coach. When told Clemson can't get the CJ's to come here, Swinney pulled the old "Enron" slogan and "ask why?"
I say all that to say this. Clemson players have all produced in college and in the NFL, 2-star, 3-star, 4-star, or 5-star. That is why Clemson is starting to recruit better than the school down the street. The football team is graduating more than 90% of their players. That's why Clemson is recruiting better than the team down the street. Clemson recruits the student first and the athlete second. They stay longer, which is why Clemson is okay to recruit 11-15 players in the 2016 cycle. The school in Columbia loses player after player early and have to recruit and reshuffle the deck to make room for "new" players.
Lastly, Clemson has around 25-35 active alumni that play in the National Football League. While that is not a selling point on the trail, high school player see it and have name recognition with the school. And those players are recent, which means the coaches that help coach them up to that standard are still part of the staff, which the school down the street has shown they don't do well. Hence the reason they went from 11 wins to 7 wins, from a top 25 defense to 95th, and from close to winning the SEC to back to earth. You can't recruit 4-star and 5-star talent like that. Oh and a retired Marcus Lattimore, an injured Jadeveon Clowney, and a third string QB in Connor Shaw doesn't help that cause. Nor does not a single player being drafted from the 2014 team.....
