Gator Bowl (long)

I hope CU gets an invite to the Gator Bowl....and honestly, the decision makers in Jacksonville would be d@mn fools not to pick us. All this Holiday Bowl talk and playing against one of our former QB's is pure HS. And....the Gator wanting UNC...Drake Maye ain't playing and the team appears to have quit, so there's that. I know the Gator doesn't want a UT vs CU rematch...ok fine, but Jacksonville NEEDS to pick CU....we will pack the stadium for the Bowl game and.....the Jaguars play the Panthers two days later!!! What a monetary dream for the city of Jacksonville....the town will be Orange for the long New Year's weekend. I, for one, would love to see our Seniors one more time....and I would for d@mn sure love to see Trevor and ETN on New Years Eve!!! Can you imagine the amount of Orange in the stadium for that game!!!
In the old days CU folks would burn up the fax machine for a given Bowl location and many times it worked. In the digital age it's email....anyone have any ideas who to start blasting emails to for us to go to the Gator? My family and I are ALL IN for New Years in Jacksonville with the Tigers and Jaguars. Just a thought!!!

I do believe we have a lot going for us to make the Gator if it's up to their selection committee. The fans within driving distance we will bring and the dramatic story of our poor start that finally turned around. Match us against another big name that had a less than perfect year and you have a can't miss game.

They are not going to do the rematch with Tennessee.
I'm not sure how much say the bowls themselves get these days.
But if it comes down to Tennessee or Kentucky...the Gator Bowl is taking Tennessee hands down and then just figuring out the ACC part of it.

A&M could be a neat replacement for Tennessee at 7-5

A good traveling base and largely cool fans, and Elko, who already beat us once this year, as their new coach. That'd be something, and a better draw for the town than UT/UNC for sure. A&M fans would be pretty inspired to show up for that one.

Why can’t we have a rematch? What difference does it make? Both schools would travel well to the Gator.

Citrus, I believe. Clemson is going to the Holiday Bowl. Fan following is not as big as the TV matchup.

ESPN probably wants a game that they are relatively certain can we be won by a SEC team. That may exclude us altogether.

I don't believe the Gator Bowl has a say-so with which teams ESPN sends them for the matchup.

Works both ways. Holiday Bowl doesn't want UNC two years in a row especially since attendance dropped to 36k last year with UNC from it's usual attendance in low to mid 50's.

Tigers are able to drive to the Gator Bowl. This would be the most attended bowl for us. I would go to the Gator but will not go across the Country for the Holiday Bowl.

The Bowl committee used to make those decisions but now it seems to be the TV folks.

Yep. I posted below on the Gator Bowl's preference but failed to mention that ESPN is trying to nix any Clemson UT rematch. That will probably be the biggest hurdle to us getting to the Gator.

to play in the friggin' Holiday Bowl.
San Diego is 2,265 miles from Clemson and 1,025 miles from Corvallis. Ticket sales and attendance would be terrible IMO.

Read on 247 this morning that Tennessee wants the Gator regardless of opponent. Regarding ACC, Gator Bowl reps want UNC even without Drake Maye. It also implied Clemson is lobbying hard for the Gator. Seems like an uphill battle but hopefully we can pull it off and get to the Gator.

Cash Cow might leave for another conference, I wouldn't want to fuel that possibility further by ignoring Clemson's wishes. Think, ACC...just think.
Now, to be honest, San Diego is an awesome place to visit...but the Oregon State match-up is nothing more than a football soap opera. They might want to wait until it's clear DJU isn't headed to a Michigan State post-graduate program, too. The problem is, unless he says something about his intentions prior to the 4th, the bowl/ESPN are skuh-rooed.
