Fundraising Question

Dec 13, 2015, 9:11 PM

for those of you who have had to raise funds for projects, I would like to know what service, ideas you had that had the most success (profit).

I am a S&C coach at a SC high school and am looking to improve our weight room. This is going to take money that a very rural school like mine does not have. What ideas do you have or have used before that worked the best?

I have thought about a chicken bog plate but that is going to cost 400 dollars in initial funds to cook. I also thought of one of those "GoFundMe" pages. But would love for yall's input. TIA

We would have an auction for the kids to provide services - yard work, house work, car wash, baby sitting, etc but for some reason that is not kosher any more. The best thing about it - no cost pure profit.

Krispy Kreme does special fundraiser options, not sure of up front cost, but I always buy them from fundraisers

I know that in Aiken, Fatz and Outback actively support the community by helping groups with fundraisers.

Sure you must have a lot of dads that hunt. Booster club at a small school my sons attended had good luck with a wild game dinner

My high school band went to Mardi Gras every 4 years.

We'd raise money by selling bbq chickens and hash every year. Band members would sell tickets and parents would do the cooking. It wasn't hard to find someone to volunteer a pit and equipment. I have fond memories of those all nighters.

donations of weights and other equipment.

Try to find a corporate sponsor, sometimes a booster who works for a large company can help hook you up. Just go visit the offices of corporations and ask questions. Most people will tell you something or give you a lead.

Try the big boys, Michelin and such. Shoot for the moon on this, it only takes one company to change your life. These guys need tax breaks. Offer local gyms top dollar tax write offs for some of their equipment. Take everything they give you. Even if you can't use it you can sell it cheap, the profit is 100%.

Use your head for something besides a hat rack. I don't know anything about fundraising except hard work. Get your butt out there and work this out.

Have the staff and players cook over wood, wrapped in foil, staying up all night. Sell early next morning.
