I find this rule just plain stupid imo. Fumble at the one and it is your ball. Into the end zone and out, not yours. Why?

I have never understood this rule - possession changes without control of the ball is what bothers me I guess.

benefited from that rule against UNC this year and the last time we played Texas A&M in College Station...

and out of the endzone be a safety or should it just be a fumble and a turnover on downs where the ball was snapped? Not sure you could change the fumble out of the side of the endzone rule and not the safety rule as well.

I love the way that it seems I am in the minority. I think it places a good emphasis on Ball security and raises the stakes in the red zone

I too think it is a stupid rule, except that one time it really, really benefited Clemson this year. I offer up a compromise, that ANY fumble out of bounds results in a chance of possession, just like basketball.

You fumble out of bounds and the ball goes to the other team at that spot.

Just like basketball.

happen, I would rather have this rule than the current deal.

The fumble out of your own end zone rule mentioned above where a safety is awarded to the other team, is fine with me.
