Full disclosure: Really tired of seeing "Culture fit" being bandied about.

Here is the thing imo, for kids coming in to Clemson, we should be able to take them in, wrap arms around them and integrate them into our culture, much as we did in the Corps. Yeah, it can't be a complete square peg situation, but let's not act like every kid who signs elsewhere is a trouble maker. Know who else has an outstanding culture? Alabama. Say what you like, but most of his players love Saban just as ours love Dabo. Oh-cry-O St, Jawga, Oregon, USC all get their share of great kids, so all the "bad fit" narrative needs to juat stop. Yeah, Nkimdeche, Bellamy and others were good examples of bad fits for CU, but sometimes wr just whiff, and there are a lot more reasons than culture fit, NIL etc. Case in point, sorry, but if I'm a hotshot WR and I wanna play on Sunday, I'm certainly answering the phone if Brian Hartline of Ohio St calls. His proof is in the pudding. Who was our last 1st round WR? Mike Williams. When did we put a OL in the NFL in the first round? Heck, the 3rd round maybe even? Development and production is what a lot of these kids are REALLY looking for, not the culture that is a lot less important for most than say culture AND 200k in NIL AND being in an NFL Conduit.

So you know, there's a player council, that can hard pass...

with Dabo on recruits that visit/other. Social media between these guys is a big well, red marks fly.

At some point prior to season, 2 teams are selected within the players. Captains are named, then they draft from the 135? The two teams are rewarded points for "good conduct", class, community, social, charity and on and on and on... Year end rewards are the boon. Character is driven and rewarded. Don't let your team down.

Dabo has said in the past, that he/staff would be willing to take a "risk" on the right kid. Parents, coaches, advisors, HS teachers and admins come on board with the "kid" needing the right environment.

It's more than those 2 you mentioned, but I doubt the staff has needed to take too many risks since Chambers? Page? DK?

Who knows what happens, I'll say it again, I've faith in Dabo until I don't and will continue to enjoy the ride until then.

every recruit we get is a model citizen and great guy, while recruits we don't get are bad apples. They just weren't Clemson material, either because of a bad attitude or a desire to go to the highest bidder.

For this to work, you also must believe that Clemson is poor and just can't offer NIL money like the "big boys" can. Whenever guys choose another school, it was because we were "outbid" for him.

We are not poor. Not by any means, but I will say, we don't have NEARLY the deep pockets of Ohio State, ND, or even the old SWC kings like Texas and Aggies. Even Miami will absolutely ROLL us with NIL. Heck, Nevin Shapiro was just a decade too early, but Uncle Luke and others will dang sure lay down some $$$ .

Well...in fairness...

it's no secret that Clemson really can't offer the kind of NIL money the "big boys" can. At least not right now. By "big boys", I am referring to schools like Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, Michigan, Georgia, Miami, and Southern Cal among others. The two NIL Collectives that are now in place at Clemson have been a good start, but we have a long way to go in order to compete with the "big boys" from an NIL perspective.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

You make some good points but…

From my limited coaching experience, a couple of bad apples can REALLY ruin the whole bunch. You end up wasting a lot of time dealing with them and their parents. But you ultimately waste a lot of time straightening out the ones that got sideways due to the influence of the bad apples. To me, give me the kid who wants to be there for the love of the game and being part of a team that is greater than the individual. In Clemson’s case- go out and find the best players you can that still put the team ahead of any individual accolades.
I get he comparison but once you sign on to be a marine do you really have a choice to transfer to the Air Force for more money?
