Hearing the B12 would allow FSU to have

May 14, 2012, 10:03 AM

a "Seminole Network", and it is the only conference that will allow them to do this. Unconfirmed but from a reliable source our of Dallas.

"What they said that I hadn't heard or read yet, (sorry if this is old news) is that FSU would be able to have a Seminole TV network. They talked about how only the Big 12 would let them do that."

FSU is not Texas and the Longhorn Network...

May 14, 2012, 10:18 AM

has had a tremendously slow start - granted, the suits at ESPN remain optimistic. Who is going to give FSU a network if Texas can't make it work?

ESPN fully committed to Longhorn Network
By Kirk Bohls | Sunday, January 8, 2012, 01:39 PM

Despite a slow start and a struggle to gain blanket distribution, ESPN remains fully committed to the Longhorn Network “for the long haul,” an ESPN executive said Sunday.

“Disappointed is not the right word,” said Burke Magnus, ESPN vice-president in charge of college sports programming. “Texas has been a great partner and has been very patient. There’s no question we’re committed to it. We’re going to take stock of where we are and figure out what the keys are necessary to unlock it. As soon as we get the first deal (with a national distributor), I think it will take off and snowball.”

ESPN has been unable to come to contractual agreements with any large-scale cable carriers or satellite companies to show the Longhorn Network, which launched in August and will bring the University of Texas $300 million over 20 years.

The Longhorn Network loses much of its leverage for negotiations in the short term because it has already shown two football games and most of its dozen men’s basketball games although it will show virtually the entire baseball schedule. Magnus just sighed and declined comment when I asked if there were any future plans to try to show high school football games.

“Over 20 years, we’ll make a lot of money,” Magnus said. “Nobody’s pushing the panic button.”

think about the deal CSS has with several schools

May 14, 2012, 10:26 AM

including Clemson - they have a "Clemson night" every week where they show a replay of the game, coaches show, and maybe some other show featuring Clemson. They show several live baseball games like Clemson-UGA or Clemson-GT (other schools they have deals with). Tennessee has produced a bunch of "Big Orange" historical shows that are interesting to watch, and they get lots of airtime with stuff like that. I wish Clemson would do that, and have the media avenue to air them.

Clemson, maybe even FSU, aren't "big" enough to have their own network, but they certainly deserve to have the right to be able to if they get the opportunity.

That falls under the third tier money.

If ESPiN and Fox do not want a game then Texas can air the game on their network.

No Big 12 team is required to share their third tier income.

Don't confuse the ACC homers with facts. They won't
