Okay, National Championship Game tonight. FSU vs Auburn
Who are you pulling for and WHY?
Tough decision for Clemson fans. Pull for your division rival or the dreaded SEC, especially the hated Auburn Tigers.

I just want to enjoy the game regardless of who wins. I get tired of pulling hard for Clemson that I dont have much energy, stress and tension to waste on pulling for a game that really means nothing to me.
Yes it ends the SEC streak, but it won't stop any talk of the dominance. The team that would end the streak is a historical Southern football power who recruits the same kids SEC schools offer and has a coach that was molded as an assitant at Auburn and LSU. The media has already portrayed FSU as a team that used the 'SEC model' to get to where they're at.

I'm pulling for Auburn for the following reasons:
Jan 6, 2014, 8:39 AM
|
|
1. I hate FSU 2. The FSU war chant thing is obnoxious 3. Although we recruit against both schools, FSU is the team we play every year 4. If an ACC team is going to end the SEC streak I'd prefer it be by Clemson 5. Me pulling for Auburn seems to make some Tiger Board(s) posters really upset, which is an added bonus

This is kind of a tough one for me...
Jan 6, 2014, 8:44 AM
|

I COULD pull for Auburn for a few reasons: my boss is an Auburn grad and I enjoy talking football with him most days, a couple really good friends went to Auburn and are huge Auburn fans, and I have never really had a problem with Malzhan aside from Scam Newton... and they DID beat Carolina a couple years ago to keep them out of the SEC title game even in a down year.
But I am actually going to pull for FSU because: 1) end the SEC dominance. What better team to do it, than an ACC school. I know, they beat us left, right, up and down at home this season and Jimbo looks like he could use a hug or two, but I would love it if the SEC's dominance was book-ended by ACC wins (somewhat, I realize Tennessee won in 1998 in the first year of the BCS, but FSU was there and then won it the following season). And 2) I have family that are huge Alabama fans and I have never really supported them... until now.

FSU! After the FSU/ Clemson game I told my children, we very well could have just been beat by the National Champions. I still feel that way. There is ONLY one team that has been better than the CU Tigers this year and they're it! No question, they beat us but the other loss we beat ourselves. In ACC basketball, does a strong conference make each team better? Does UNC make Duke better? you better believe it! Does Wake and NC State make the conference better? Yes! Will FSU make Clemson better/ Raise the bar!!! Go ACC!

I have met and because I am tired of the "SEC entitlement" mentality.
Since I know you are a SCar fan and if you are pulling for Auburn, are you going to "claim" a BCS Championship by association?
I'm not if FSU wins.

FSU. Might make us feel a bit better about the loss earlier this year(saying half of your losses came against the national champion usually means you had a good year), hopefully puts and end to the media 'SEC 7 national titles in a row' talk(yeah, wishful thinking here), and in general I like FSU more than Auburn. Auburn has a bit more of a sketchy reputation about how they do their business. I know there are no angels out there when it comes to big time football, but Auburn seems sketchier than most.

I have several buddies that are FSU grads and they are all pretty respectful of Clemson, so I return the favor. I also cant stand the SEC circle-jerk so I'm rooting for FSU to run Auburn out of the building. I don't hate Auburn or anything (even though they have beat us out on a ton of recruits the last couple years), but it's a lot better for an ACC team to win the belt. I'd alos like the chance for Clemson to go into Doak next year to take on the undefeated, defending National Champs (and probably ranked #1 or #2) on their own turf. That would be one HELL of a statement game if we could pull that on off!

Since one of Clemson's losses is to FSU, I think an FSU victory improves Clemson's strength of schedule.
I also think an ACC victory in the national championship gives ACC fans similar bragging rights to what the SEC fans have been using. (although I'm not a big fan of boasting about other's accomplishments as if they are your own)
If FSU wins the national title, you will see more media focus on the ACC next year as well.
If Auburn wins, it will slightly diminish FSU's recruiting. (but not enough to outweigh the positive things an FSU win would bring IMO) I have to go with FSU with this one...

I really don't like FSU but it's one school vs a whole conference recruiting players from us. Plus look at the AU vs Bama rivalry. Auburn has been able to spin that as you get to play the best every year. Some years we will beat FSU and others they will win but the winner will have a shot at the NC as long as we both stay strong.
