The "likeness" topic seems to be a hot discussion. I have had some conversations with people that obviously know more about this topic than me. Here is the interesting recruiting and likeness conundrum. A few high caliber basketball players can certainly change the trajectory of a program. It would be very easy for high contributing boosters to simply line up the "likeness money" before a kid even steps on campus. My understanding is that an auto-dealership could simply say that they will pay certain players 25k annually to make an appearance or two at their dealership once they are enrolled. The business can justify the expense and the athlete has a guaranteed revenue stream before they even participate in a practice. That is the workaround and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Please shine some light on this scenario if I am off base.
