Yes, they have moved this way! They are a pest, carry disease, and can give you leprosy as mentioned!

My wife’s stepdad told me he has them on his property in GA and he wanted to get rid of them. I asked if he was going to shoot them and he said he wasn’t because he was worried the bullet might ricochet off the armor back at him. True story. ???

I got one destroying my back yard. I can't shoot it with a gun because of other houses. I have a high powered pellet gun that I will have to hit him in the head.
It's doing the damage late at night.

I keep em' controlled at my golf course

Dec 5, 2022, 7:41 PM

I registered the property with DNR for night hunting __ and I have killed 21 in 10 trips ( so far ),over the last 4 months -- they started about the end of August / first of September and were really tearing up the fairways & tee boxes. No green damage because of chemicals sprayed on the greens for ants ,bugs, ect. ( we think ?? ) -- ride the damaged fairways,in a golf cart with a spot light -- started with a shotgun, now use my rifle. Normally get 1 to 3 of the pest, every trip,a couple hours after dark till about 1 or 2 in the morning. That's about 5 or 6 trips around the course. I have killed 3 in my yard, also. ( Lake Greenwood )

We played Pine Ridge Club ( Edgefield ) back during the summer and the pro said they have a guy that hunts em' one night a week and had killed more than 60 in the last year or so**** I know they have migrated as far as North Carolina, cause some of the golf clubs have hunters on retainer to kill these nasty pest.

If you haven't shot at em' or spooked em', you can walk right up to them from the side or behind and shoot them with a pistol or shotgun ( if allowed in your neighborhood )

handle the dead ones with pliers or shovel ( don't put your hands on em' ) - Good Luck**
