You do realize Frank Howard, Danny Ford and Dabo Swinney are all proud Alabama graduates. Coach Howard a Clemson legend, on the Ring of Honor, Coach Ford brought the only NC to Clemson is still loved by the Tiger faithful, and now Dabo is bringing back respect to Clemson football. For those who refer to Alabama players and fan base as redneck inbreds, think about what you are saying. I would wager none of you would say that to the face of these three men.
Regardless of what you think about Alabama, they have a long history of one of the most successful programs in college football and 8-12 National Titles depending upon whose list you believe. Yes Bama is in the hated SEC of which many Clemson faithful would love to be a member. I don't know if these comments, opinions, and insults are based on stupidity, ignorance or just plain envy.
And how in the he!! can any Southern boy pull for the Irish of ND against Alabama?
Go Bama, ROLL TIDE ROLL

Michigan State? Flop. OU? Flop. USC? Flop. Yes, pre-season it looked like a hell of a schedule. No so much in reality. And not to mention, they ### near lost about half their games.

CharlestonTom, did you happen to look at Alabama's schedule this year? if not, here it is:
Michigan - overrated Big 10, SC beat them also Western Kentucky - Wow Arkansas - another Wow Florida Atlantic - They have football? Ole Miss - fairly good Missouri - overrated Tennessee - awful this year Miss State - Ole Miss beat them LSU - good team, we beat them Texas A&M - very good team Western Carolina - Wow Auburn - Double Wow Georgia - good team
8 out of the 13 teams they played were bad. They lost to a good Texas A&M team. They should have lost the Georgia game as well as the LSU game. Notre Dame will win this game tonight!

well giving players scholarships in other sports when the play on the football team comes immediately mind. there hasve been text book irregularities and oversigning is an ongoing issue. Here is some other stuff I found:
NCAA sanctions In August 1995, the NCAA Infractions Committee found four violations of NCAA rules by the Alabama football program. Alabama cornerback Antonio Langham signed with a sports agent and applied to enter the NFL draft in January 1993, and received deferred-payment loans totaling $24,000. Alabama's football program was placed on probation, suffered scholarship limitations, a one year post-season ban (1995), and forfeiture of eight wins and one tie from the 9–3–1 1993 season. On February 1, 2002, Alabama was sanctioned for giving recruits cash and other impermissible benefits. The NCAA leads its report with an incident in which a recruiter gave a prospect $20,000 in cash, lodging and entertainment. During the 2000 season, an assistant football coach in Memphis, Tennessee claimed that an Alabama booster had paid him US$50,000 to encourage one of his players to sign with the Crimson Tide.[121] [122] A secret witness was later revealed to be Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer.[123][124] The report includes, paying a high school coach to influence a prospect, violating legislation relating to standards of honesty and cooperation, all expense-paid visits to the campus, giving a football student-athlete an SUV for his time at Alabama, cash payments to various other football players, and several other infractions. Because Alabama was still on Repeat Offender status, the NCAA imposed public reprimand and censured, Alabama received probation from 2002 to 2006, post season ban in 2002 and 2003, loss of 21 scholarships over 3 years, and extension of Alabama's time on the Repeat Offender list. Criminal charges were filed stemming from one of the incidents.[125] On June 11, 2009, Alabama was sanctioned for impermissible benefits for textbook and supplies related infractions, valued at approximately $40,000, involving 201 student-athletes in 16 of 19 sports, including football. They were forced to vacate 21 wins from the 2005, 2006, and 2007 seasons, pay a $43,900 fine, received a public reprimand and censure, were put on three years probation, ending in June 2012, and remain on the Repeat Offender list until June 2014.[126][127][128] The university stated "none of the textbooks or materials was used for profit or to get items not related to academics, and that the athletes involved who still have eligibility remaining have had to pay restitution."[129] Alabama's appeal of the ruling was unsuccessful.[130]

You forgot to mention the late Charlie Pell who reignited the football program in the late 70's before leaving to take the job at Florida. He left Danny with the talent it took to win the NC in 1981.

that was long before TV networks started their brewhaha and teams were just teams. It affects the pollsters and the numbers, and the SEC has been getting all the voting advantages. When other teams lose competitive games they get knocked down far enough in the polls to keep them out of it, where as, like when UGA got humiliated earlier in the year, they were still on the fringe.
SEC has had too many advantages in the past decade, while other teams lose their shot (because it's the getting to the NC game that matters-- once there, it's almost 50/50 and one game). I just don't think with Bama's history, both good and bad, that they need anymore advantages too.

It's 2013, not 1863 or 1968 or 1990.
Another Alabama win goes a way towards enlarging the disparity between our conference and the SEC, both moneywise and ranking. A ND win chips away at the wall a little.
I hate them both, but pulling for Bama is pulling against Clemson.
