Love that speed and shiftiness. We need that. His receivers are just running by people but I like seeing him consistently hit guys in stride on those deep shots too. Probably a multi-year project, but these are the kinds of guys you need to take fliers on with rosters expanding.

I will agree that the kid has a good set of wheels and maybe they should recruit him as a receiver. I've personally never cared that much for left-handed QBs, and I've heard a lot of receivers say that catching balls from a left-handed QBs takes some getting used to. We really don't need for our receivers having to get used to catching balls from a left-handed QB, they drop enough balls as it is...

I just looked at his highlights. This kid is actually under the radar it seems. Definitely should be a 4*. Regardless, he will need work and I hope Vizzina will be ready to take over for Cade once he's gone.

I think Benson probably passes Vizzina before 2026. Cade will be back for 2025 and then QB1 position will be up for grabs.
I’m not hating on Vizzina, I just don’t see him as Clemson’s starting QB.

I'm on record saying that I hated Herbert was our only QB take for 2025 given his competition, lack of experience (injured junior year) and mediocre camp performances. As we adapt, we need to offer a few more kids so when we lose out on our top pick, we aren't scrambling. Again, common theme...we leave ourselves no margin for error. We don't need to be handing out 4-500 offers, but a bit more than 70 ±. Just like portal, just small changes are all that is needed.
With all that said, I LOVE this take. I hate to compare to DJ Lagway, but this kid here has a HIGH ceiling, and, as you can see....a helluva arm and he looks to throw b/f passing. Oh...and he can run too--watch the film!

Even a young guy who has played QB in just HS for more than a year is familiar with big-mouth, know-nothing fans who use the ‘expert opinions’ of recruiting publications to form their opinions about how good a college QB prospect he’ll be.

I just think that some of you have forgotten how Dabo and Clemson became one of the best teams in all of college FB for the short time that we were at the top of mountain.
Let me remind all that has forgotten, well it went something like this. Dabo recruited Tajh Boyd, and it was Tajh that help to bring in some the top receivers that Clemson FB had seen in a very long time. To help to make sure those receivers were happy, Tajh agreed to stay and play his senior season, and then we recruited 5 star QB DW4 that was the #1 QB in the 2014 class in the country, and his commitment help to bring even more top receiver talent, plus he won a NCG while at Clemson...
DW4 was drafted in the 1st round of the NFL as the 12th pick. After DW4 here comes Trevor Lawrence, TL16 was another 5 star QB that was considered one of the best high school quarterback prospects of all time. Plus TL16 was Clemson's first and only NFL 1st round pick ever in the history of Clemson FB. TL16 didn't do very bad at Clemson, he won a NCG as a true freshman, and he was the first QB to lead his team to a undefeated 12-0 season also undefeated in the playoffs winning the NCG with a 15-0 record, he was the first college QB to every do that.
Dabo and Clemson didn't win 2 NCG's by recruiting and bringing in 3 star QB's, and that's all I have to say about recruiting 3 star QB's, well just one more thing, don't expect to win a NCG by bringing in 3 star QB's, and if it is possible to do it, please name a 3 star QB that has won a NCG...

I'll respond to your stupid post.
The TLDR: Yes, it is possible for a 3 Star QB to win a national championship. It has happened. However, there are so many 3 Star QBs every year, the odds of a given 3 Star recruit winning a title are astronomically low. The odds of a 5 Star QB winning a title are 22%. The odds of a 3 Star QB winning a title are .16%, or 137 times less.
Every year, there are between 1,000 and 2,000 3 star football players. There are about 30 5 star players. That discrepancy carries over to the QB position. In the last 20 years, 5 Star national champion QBs include: J.J. McCarthy, Bryce Young, Trevor Lawrence, Tua Tagovailoa, Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Cam Newton, A.J. McCarron, Tim Tebow, Chris Leak, and Vince Young (Matt Leinart and Ken Dorsey also would have been 5 Stars, but they predated the star ranking system). That's 11 of the QBs. 3 Star QBs include Stetson Bennett and Cardale Jones. All the others were 4 Stars.
So there have been 40 times more 3 Star QBs than 5 Star QBs, yet there have been 4 times more 5 Star national championship QBs than 3 Star ones.
Yes, it is possible for a 3 Star QB to win a championship. But it's such a remote chance that it's basically 0. So, I did the very rough math to get an estimate of the odds of a given high school QB winning a national championship. There are about 14,000 high school football programs, each of which have a starting QB each year. .6% of football players achieve a 3 Star rating. So that means there have been about 1,200 3 Star QBs in the last 20 years. 2 have won national championships, meaning conservatively, there is a .16% chance of a given 3 Star QB winning a title. Meanwhile, there have only been about 50 5 Star QBs in that same time period (SB nation and Saturday down south both estimate 46 and 47). 11 have won national championships, so that's a 22% chance.
And that doesn't even account for extenuating circumstances. Yes, Stetson Bennett won 2 titles. He also played on a team that finished #1 in recruiting 4 of the previous 5 years. If you're the best at every position, you can get by without a world-beating QB. We have not been recruiting anywhere near that level to make up for a 3 Star's deficiencies.

Conner Shaw from up the road 3 star. Attitude, development and coach ability is what makes a great College player. I’m a little older maybe than you. In 1994 we brought in 3 RBs .

Nice! There's the pendulum swinging back in our favor. Agree with a lot of the comments above. Frame size we can take care of. He's speedy. Seems to have both poise and adaptability in the pocket. One day you’ll learn.
A late in the recruiting cycle player who has the majority of his Sr. Year HS film available can be evaluated more thoroughly than an early in the recruiting cycle player who doesn’t yet have Sr. Year film on him.
Hebert was offered a scholarship long before his Sr. Year started. C.Denson was just recently offered. The data on Denson is better than that which was used to extend the offer to Hebert.
While I’m not suggesting that Herbert’s decommitment was part of Clemson’s grand scheme to sneak in C.Denson as our QB for 2025 class, I believe we’ve upgraded as far as the QB position for the 2025 class.

He looks raw. Also listed at 6'1 175. Prolly closer to 6'0 and 165. Needs a few years to add strength and weight to be able to withstand the punishment at the collegiate level. But, he looks to have to tools to be pretty good.

I actually think he is probably pretty true to his listed 6'1.5" height on 247. He looks noticeably different than every other player on the field which makes me think he's at least 6'1"

Deshaun and Cade were both 185 lbs coming in to Clemson. Both needed to gain weight, as will Denson. He will redshirt his first year and be easily pushing 200+ by 2026 IMO.

Same, Herbert seemed like he was gonna be another pocket passer we tried to turn into a dual threat. This kid is an actual duel threat. Over 1k rushing this past season. He is going to need to develop. Both physically, and as a QB. This is gonna be a test of how good Batson and Riley are. Personally, I think Batson is over the hill. But he can prove me wrong here.

where our program was by who we beat out for recruits. When we were elite, we were beating out, Tenn, Ughey, Bama, OSU and Mich. In the Tommy West, Hatfield, Bowden and early Dabo days, we would beat out App State, Coastal, Ga Tech, and other mid - level teams. Hope this kid is a world beater, but beating out CCU ain't shart.

Plant City plays 6a/5a football. This kid actually played against powerhouse Lakeland in his kick off classic. Very under the radar . Should be a 4 star based on his senior season. His performance last Friday in a one point loss will become plant city folk lore. Solid kid from a solid family. Huge FSU family. FSU and Notre Dame spent all day Monday trying to flip him according to my sources. Great find by our coaches. Had one coach tell me he would potentially compare him to Charlie Ward
