Not an upset... except if they are referring to Slurrier's visor throwing.

I was just going to post the same as you. I guess that is why they are so bad at predicting game winners. They don't know that a #6 team can't upset a #10 team. Their feeling maybe upset, but their loss isn't an upset for the #10 team. I know how he done that though. He feels that a #10 sec team equals or is better than a #6 acc team. It works with the same thinking they use when an acc team beats an sec team at mid to end of season. The acc team won only b/c the sec team was beat down already from playing each other.

Upsets are based on the Vegas lines

Clemson and Duke are both underdogs based on The Line so a win by either is considered an upset.

Gimme a break, do you actually think McHairspray was staring

at the Vegas odds when making his predictions?! He was ignorantly and disrespectfully paying more attention to program status than what the teams accomplished on the field this year b/c only an idiot would label that game as an upset. C'mon, a now 6-6 team [4-4 in ACC] was being treated as a favorite over a 10-2 team [6-2 in ACC] to the point that a Duke win would be labeled an "upset" win rather than just a win? GTFO here. The ONLY reason "upset" even entered the picture was because of one word- "DUKE".
Not to mention, anyone supporting Vegas's odds in this instance as an excuse to rationalize Duke being an "underdog" [like you are] don't know crap about perspective or Vegas odds-making b/c if you did you'd know Vegas has been embarrassingly wrong about Duke all year, and despite this, they persisted on judging the program based on history rather than its 2013 performance. -- Duke was 32.5 favorite NC Central; won by 45. [12.5 differential] --4 pt favorite @ Memphis; won by 14. [10 pt differential] --4 pt favorite vs Navy; won by 28 [24 pt differential] --2.5 underdog @ Virginia; win by 13. [15.5 differential] --12.5 underdog @ VTech; won by 3. [13.5 pt differential] --10.5 favorite vs NCSt; won by 18. [7.5 differential] --3.5 underdog vs Miami; won by 18. [21.5 differential]
Those represent 5 of the 6 games leading up to the UNC odds.

So you can see Vegas had Duke listed as the underdog in

3 of their past 5 games, pegging them to lose by a combined 18.5 points. Not only did Duke win those 3 games but they exceeded Vegas's odds by 91.5 points the past 7 weeks, so anyone who uses Vegas's odds as grounds to call Duke's win over UNC an "upset" is a moron.

No matter what way you look at it, everyone and their grandmother is picking us to lose this game. In that sense, I think it's more than fair to call us the "underdog". You realize you're chastising one of the only analysts in the country who predicted us to win for having the nerve to suggest it would be an upset, right?

a Duke win over UNC or a Clemson win over SC an "upset", not when we're 10-1 and beat a UGA team that SC lost to by 11 points a week later. It'd just be a win over SC, not an upset win. "Upset wins" are reserved for teams who appeared to have absolutely no business winning the game like Fla Southern beating UF, not when a higher ranked team beats a lower one. A 5 point Vegas spread certainly is NOT enough grounds to qualify as an upset win. You have expected wins, wins, and upset wins.
It's flat out ridiculous to go to the extreme and label Clemson & Duke as potential upset wins, especially when Duke f***ing won. Did they accidentally beat UNC? No, they flat out beat 'em, so how can you foolishly call it an upset when the better team won? In hindsight, the upset would've been if the 6-6 team had beaten the 10-2 one.
