Focus on the Light

Call me a sunshine pumper if you want, but, in my personal opinion, it is time to turn the page and focus on the positive – to move to the light – and we have much for which to be thankful and to which to look forward. In no particular order of importance, and I am sure that there are more.
1. We have the number one high school player on campus ready to compete for the starting QB role. My wish is that DJ lives up to his potential and has a break out year. Cade learns at DJ’s elbow, gets plenty of reps in blow out games, and then hits the ground running in 2023.
2. KJ Henry is staying home for another season.
3. We have an exciting and slightly eccentric DC in Wes Goodwin. The team was well coached in the bowl game and I am excited to see what Coach Goodwin does on his own. There is a reason Coach Venables wanted to take him with him.
4. Nick Eason is an inspired choice for the new DL coach. He has tremendous credibility in the coaching ranks, and the NFL, which should make him a very effective recruiter.
5. The people with opinions a lot more educated than mine think Coach Streeter is the right choice to lead the offense.
6. We have a group of dedicated, hard working Tigers on campus and on the way who get up everyday and ask the question how can I make this team and this program better. Will Shipley embodies the attitude of these young men who fight everyday for their teammates, their coaches, their school, and yes us fans.
7. Despite devastating injuries, this team fought and scraped and beat the coots, had another 10-win season and won its bowl game against a good team who many pundits thought would easily handle us and our two new coordinators.
8. We get to wake up each morning Clemson fans.
9. The Tigers still are lead by one of the finest men and greatest head coaches ever to grace a college football sideline. He handles adversity with grace and calm in way that should make us all proud. Few ever have done it better.
Okay, I will stop preaching now. Happy New Year to all my fellow tnetters – the No. 1 board in the country.

Agreed. I heard Coach Bowden speak at an Fellowship of Christian Athletes event and it is easy to see why Dabo considers Coach Bowden to be one of his most important mentors.

Coach Bobby Bowden spoke at my small college teams annual football banquet back in the 1980’s. He had everyone in attendance rolling and tears of laughter flowing that night. One of the funniest speeches I have ever heard, and not a single curse word. He was a special person. After that night it was easy to see why he was so successful and beloved.

Isn't that the truth. Deion Sanders talks about Coach Bowden in such an emotional and heartful way. I do not mean this as any disrespect to Deion, but, when someone with such confidence and swag can talk so humbly about his coach, that coach must have been special indeed.

Said another way, "The N.Y. Yankees have routinely had the highest payroll in baseball over the years; but they do not always win the World Series"!
Meaning: "the team with the most raw talent don't always win"! I know that example is baseball; but was Clemson on par with Alabama in recruiting in 2016? No. Composite class of #12 vs composite class of #1.
You need some playmakers for certain! They all can't be developmental players no doubt. But, that is not something we have to worry about at this moment.
Let's just see how it goes - before hitting the panic button just yet!

Anyone know w/o having to enact an act of Congress where B.T. is in terms of All-Time Points?
Thanks in advance.

BT is 4th with 344 points. Travis Etienne is No. 1 with 468 points. Catman is 2nd with 404, and Huegel is 3rd with 379 points.

Thanks Noonan!
When B.T. and DK got to Clemson; I swear as sure as Covid-19 and it's variants s/ck; "I told my next door neighbor B.T. might end up having the better Clemson career! DK a 5-star player! B.T. was the #1 kicker in his class and South Pointe was loaded that year - but look at how time tells all tales!
B.T. has a shot at Catman - TE9 is probably out of reach!

I never know how to analyze these things. I think BT "suffered" from playing with a high octane offense that scored a ton of touchdowns. He had lots of PATs but not many field goal attempts.

468 - 344 = 124 to tie ETN
Say we average 3 TDs per game and play in the ACCG and a bowl game (I know we will play two bowl games, but lets just say one)
3 x 14 games = 42 points on extra points
124 - 42 = 82 points left / 3 points per FG = 27.33 FG needed / 14 games = 1.95 FG/game
So....
If we average 3 TDs / game and 2 FG / game with a 14 game season, BT takes over ETN.
So, I'm saying there's a chance....
AND... we play Furman, La Tech and the coots.... so you know we are going to score at least 7 TDs in each of those games, but since they never stop us, we might not kick FGs.
Its going to be close....
