Guys, it could be worse

Oct 24, 2013, 2:04 PM

We could be Texas A&M and have the reigning Heisman trophy winner, who is putting up crazy stats and crazy points and have a defense so bad, that you can't win a national championship, even while averaging over 30 points a game in the SEC West.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yea it could be worse....

Oct 24, 2013, 2:05 PM

We could be losing to Wake Forest 45-17 and Duke by a last second field goal.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't recall that ever happening

Oct 24, 2013, 2:06 PM

I have killed those memories, much like I don't remember losing to FSU this year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

OH it could be a lot worse: 60 miles or so would do it***

Re: Guys, it could be worse

Oct 24, 2013, 2:08 PM

Yep. We could all be coot fans.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes...we could all be Gamecocks....

Oct 24, 2013, 2:19 PM

and that would really suck !!!!!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I wish we were playing SEC Defenses this year

Oct 24, 2013, 2:28 PM

They're all horrible!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

SEC allowing the fewest points per game

Oct 24, 2013, 2:33 PM

In non-conference games of any conference in the country. Their in-conference games have the 3rd-highest scoring average, behind the Mountain West and PAC-12.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A conference known for it's ballsy out-of-conference

Oct 24, 2013, 2:59 PM

matchups!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Their opponents have a higher cumulative win percentage

Oct 24, 2013, 3:04 PM

Than any other conference's opponents. Their FBS opponents are 88-75 (.540 win%).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

*out-of-conference opponents, that is***

Oct 24, 2013, 3:04 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So crunch these numbers then: What is their

Oct 24, 2013, 3:08 PM [ in reply to Their opponents have a higher cumulative win percentage ]

winning percentage over those FBS opponents?

And what is the ppg on defense for those opponents?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The SEC is 27-7 against FBS OOC opponents.

Oct 24, 2013, 3:11 PM

The SEC is allowing 19.5 point per game in those 34 games.

Their OOC win% of .794 is second to the PAC-12 (.808). This is all FBS opponents only. The ppg allowed in those games is the lowest of any conference.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I meant BCS opponents; "FBS" is pretty meaningless these day

Oct 24, 2013, 3:14 PM

s. The only stats that matter are vs. other BCS opponents because no one from The Mountain West is going to the MNC.

I count 6-6 vs. BCS opponents.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have 8-6 vs. ACC, American, B12, B10, and PAC12

Oct 24, 2013, 3:16 PM

I don't have the PPG allowed in those games readily available. I'd have to do some crunchin'.

breakdown on those records:

2-2 vs. ACC
2-2 vs. American
1-0 vs. Big 10
2-1 vs. Big 12
1-1 vs. PAC-12

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who's in the "American" other than Louisville and UCF?

Oct 24, 2013, 3:18 PM

I think that's throwing off my record.

You'd have to admit they're not lighting it up vs. BCS Conference teams with good offenses this year.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You missed SMU and Indiana as BCS wins.***

Oct 24, 2013, 3:20 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Again, not world-beaters by any stretch

Oct 24, 2013, 3:50 PM

Point for the number-crunching though

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I post the number...inferences are up to the reader.

Oct 24, 2013, 3:52 PM

I make none.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lies, #### lies, and statistics!***

Oct 24, 2013, 3:56 PM

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

SEC is 8-6 in OOC games against BCS conferences.

Oct 24, 2013, 3:22 PM [ in reply to Who's in the "American" other than Louisville and UCF? ]

PAC-12 is 6-3
ACC is 6-6
Big 12 is 3-4
Big 10 is 8-6
American is 4-10

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wins over VT, UNCheat, Wash St, Texas, UCF, TCU.

Oct 24, 2013, 3:17 PM [ in reply to I meant BCS opponents; "FBS" is pretty meaningless these day ]

None of those teams have what anyone would consider a great (maybe not good offense)

Losses to Clemson, Miami, Rutgers, Oregon, OK State, and Louisville

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Could care less the number of GA State teams they beat

Oct 24, 2013, 4:10 PM [ in reply to SEC allowing the fewest points per game ]

up on. Only one that counts is the Clemson/Dawgs game.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ask Tennessee about Oregon's offense

Oct 24, 2013, 3:04 PM

Have they played a decent team other than that and VT vaunted offense.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Flexbone***

Oct 24, 2013, 3:11 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty sad their best OOC win is an ACC school that went to 3 OT with marshall

Oct 24, 2013, 3:13 PM

And still held the 2 time reigning national champions to 14 offensive points.
