Mike reed is the BEST assistant we have and it’s not even close. I love all our coaches but coach reed is beyond worth his weight in gold. He has consistently developed his players EVERY year since he’s been here in 2013. They better lock coach reed up with a hefty raise or else he could go somewhere else. Anyways GO TIGERS!!!!

Time will tell.
As for Matt, he stepped away from coaching because he said the time away from his family and the grind was too big. No one will convince me that Dabo's culture and his dedication to family, personal family not football family, is of utmost importance, didn't weigh heavily into Matt's decision to return to coaching.

These look like 2 great hires with a lot of experience and Rumph is familiar with Clemson and the culture. Based on resume and need, I am more excited about Luke than I am about Rumph. Our OL has never really been one of our strengths and this guy looks like he has been involved in coaching some players that went on to be very good in both college and the NFL. I agree with Bret that his stepping away to spend more time with his family makes one think he will fit very well with the way Dabo runs his program and that the program will be a good fit for him. It really has to work both ways. I'm really hoping both of these position groups but especially the OL develop a little more toughness and intensity with the new coaches. Good stuff. Go Tigers!

offensive line coach with some pedigree. Hopefully his changes will tweak our offensive scheme for the better so that we won't be so soft and have linemen stepping backwards as opposed to attacking. Its seems we never drive opponents off the ball. Our guys stand up straight and hold their position in order to create a wall for our RBs to run behind. Which is why we get driven backward so much and are on our heels.

Unbelievable hires by Dabo! I'll admit when we originally let Austin and Hall go I didn't see how those two position coaches could make a big difference in things. No, I don’t think they’ll be going anywhere, but the high-level coaching they’ll receive in the next 6 months and competition for playing time will “grow them up” significantly. And this is on top of top-level incoming freshmen.

But I'd also like to say it is absolutely crazy that these 2 guys are making more than Eason, Reed, Conn & Wes. That's not a recipe to keep your coaches that have been with you happy. Wes KILLED it this season and deserves a hefty raise and so does Reed and Eason. Those 3 guys are the reason we aren't 4-8. I am stoked we got these 2 guys because they'll make us way better but I hope Dabo didn't withdrawal all the money out the bank to get them.
