Encouraging start against SCar

for the Clemson women. ERad went with a 4-4-2 this time: Lyles and Harris as the 2 strikers Manousos, Brough, Brathwaite, and Short from left to right in the midfield Jenkins, Duff, Kerr, and Klein from left to right along the back line Holgorson still at GK
After that disaster in Blacksburg, I was hoping the Tigers could at least play a competitive 1st half against a good SC team. And they actually did! Reese Klein did an outstanding job locking down Katie Shea Collins. Short, Lyles, and Manousos showed flashes of creativity. The defense mostly played well. Klein and Jenkins offered some good offensive from the wingback. And most encouragingly of all, Clemson actually generated some decent, consistent offense: I’d argue for the first time all season. Hope they can keep it going in the 2nd, as the 2nd half is where they’ve really struggled so far in ‘25. Still 0-0 from Riggs.

Definitely been some dropoff between graduation and new recruits.

Where is the passion?

They seem to missing something. The midfield is unimpressive and they don't play with much passion -- lots of jogging, it seems.
SCar has lived in our defensive 1/3 the entire second half.

Yeah…. Watching soccer ..makes about as much sense as camping out on another team’s message board and adding absolutely no useful input…
What’s wrong with the world these days…

I agree with TennesseeVol on this, why would anyone watch soccer? Women's soccer at that!

Understand if you don’t like Soccer. However it’s a team that represents Clemson and they’re playing South Carolina. A perfect reason to follow. Go Tigers! Ladies did their job last night.

As Dabo says: I don't care about criticism from people I wouldn't ask for advice.

The sad thing is, Tennessee actually has a really good team this year, currently ranked #2 in the nation. They're 4-0 with 2 ranked wins. If you could allow yourself to be more open minded, this would actually be a very enjoyable team for you to follow.

Maybe I was watching a different game, but they looked like they were playing with a 2-0 lead, especially in the second half. Finally, with 15 minutes to play they go a little life and started to play better. They very rarely won one on one match-ups and seems to be outhustled. They will not win many ACC games with this kind if play. Maybe it is because we are playing a lot of freshman.

You weren't. Obviously SCar is good, affected some of that, but it already seems like last season. Miss a superstar that finds a way to get that critical goal and gets the offense going.
Hopefully the young ones get confidence as the season progresses.

Yes. I noticed at one point in the game we had played seven freshmen to Scar's three. I am not going to worry so much about our win - loss record as I am about developing these young players and continuing to improve. I think we will and hopefully win a few along the way. I think we have eight teams ranked in the top 20, so we will have the opportunity for some upsets and a chance for these young ladies to learn what it's like to play against the best ....... like Stanford in the coming weeks.
