Field goals in the playoffs...

Anyone else concerned over this?
Pretty sure Alex Spence lets the pressure get to him and there will be plenty in the playoffs.
I don't think we can risk field goals longer than say 33 yards. We just need to go for it, even if it's 4th and 10.
The worst thing you can do for a kicker with shaky confidence is have him go miss a 40 yard FG.
I guess the plus side is that it will keep some drives alive when we would have otherwise settled for 3.
Thoughts?

Go for it on 4th down all day.
Spence’s nerves are not settled.
If we lose it will be due to special teams.

That long one in the ACCCG gave me more confidence

If he's able to hit from 46 yards outdoors in the cold, I say we give him a shot from 40 yards and shorter on 4th and long.
4th and short, I think we should be going for it anywhere outside of the 20 yard line.

It crossed my mind this morning. I hope it does not come down to a field goal. If it does, I hope Spence delivers.

We've kicked 5 FGs in the playoffs

2 against OU 26 and 36 yarders 2 against Bama in 2016 37 and 31 yards 1 against Ohi-0 that was 45.
Doesn't look like 1) we are heavily reliant on FGs but 2) when we do kick they are relatively close.

FGs may not be an issue because Bama can't get off the field on 3rd downs. This is definitely their weakest D since 07

Not sure I am in favor of going for it on 4th and 10

with our defense. Maybe a pooch punt (like Deshaun's) and make them drive 95+ is a better option sometime. Now if we are down in the game, different story.

When the time comes he will kick it and make it. Stop worrying about it.

He's been kicking a lot better since being told he's actually left footed

Ha! Another thought is that Clemson is so darn good at moving the ball that they rarely have to try for long field goals. The D usually gives the O excellent field position and KB and company are rarely required to move the ball very far. Most field goal attempts are within 40 yards. If the Tigers can flip the field they will be fine.

No one knows for sure. Honestly, it's the only major concern for any Tiger fan. But, if the offense and defense do their jobs, it probably will not matter.

I would agree. I'm hoping that it is a non-issue. Will add extra excitement if it is close in the 4Q.

Go for it! 7 > 3*2

Not that getting a 4th down conversion guarantees a touch down but it does ensure a closer field goal on the next series.
If the coaches know they are going for it on 4th down then on 3rd down it completely changes the play calling opening up options.
