it through to the end.
Which are you?
Some of the comments on here are outlandish and you would never say them to a coach’s face/student athlete’s face.
Calling Dabo a “liar” is over the top.
There are over 100 other teams you can go pull for if all you care about is winning. Some of them are willing to win at all costs - literally.
Go hitch your horse to their wagon.

Maybe the 2016 and/or 2018 OL was better and after the 5 starters there were only 2 or 3 deep with equal or near equal talent. Last year the OL was not good but maybe they were 5 or 6 deep with equal or near equal talent.
The real question Dabo should have been asked is if the OL last year was as good as the ones in 2016 or 2018.

I think people are taking some of the attacks too far. I do think criticism is warranted though. There needs to be change at Clemson. Nepotism is a disease and you have got to be willing to evolve to stay relevant. Dabo has shown in the past he was willing to evolve, we fans want to see that side of Dabo again.
If you are expecting him to dog his team or be overly critical of his team in public, you're a fool and not cut out for leadership. He doesn't need to be critical in public bc the public has already done the hammer over the head to this team. Right now he needs to make them believe in each other and not quit.

Fair points, Ive coached youth sports up to 4A high school. I ALWAYS believed

That we would win, that my guys were the best, etc.
It’s part of being a coach and part of a team - true belief that you will find a way to win, that your guys are the best.
I’ve also done some interviews with journalists and I was ALWAYS very careful about what I shared publicly.
Some things are best left for the team/the locker room/practice etc.

1. I haven't seen any "quitting." People demanding change, even if it's at the head coach level, are not quitting. They're actively suggesting ways they think will fix the problem. You might disagree, but I personally view someone who is content with mediocrity or will just say "I trust the coaches" to be the quitters.
2. I don't personally know what he lied about. I think he has a ton of problems as a coach. I think he's a narcissist and surrounds himself with yes men who tell him his #### doesn't stink. I genuinely think he is deluded about his team because of that. So I don't consider him a liar. But if you lie, you deserve to be called a liar. So if they think he is, they have every right to call him that.
3. I would absolutely say this to any coach's face. The fact that you even said that shows you're a cowardly person. I wouldn't say this to a particular player because I think most of them are trying their best. I don't think Turner can help the fact that he's not very good and me telling him that serves no purpose. I will push back on the claim that many of these players are "student-athletes." They are now mostly professional athletes. Few go to class, and many are shunted into fake majors and classes to help them make the grade. PRTM is a joke as any Clemson grad knows. They can take silly classes like "reffing" to get credit and guaranteed As.
4. The people demanding better are just as much of Clemson fans as you. You don't have a monopoly. They chose to support the team, but get sick of the same excuses each week, the same complacency, and the fact that we're paying a coach $11 million a year to achieve mediocre results and refuse to address the issues everyone in the world can see outside of his cult. You're less of a Clemson fan if anything.

what changes would you make right now, one game into the season?
Sep 3, 2024, 4:36 PM

To me that is irrational.
We’ve won 4/5 last games, including a ranked ND team and two SEC teams, and an uprising GT team.
All time, we have losing records against both GT and UK. Our guys improved on that.
PRTM is not a wasted degree, I had friends who majored in it and I love visiting/recreating in all SC’s beautiful state parks, beaches, etc.

I personally wouldn't fire anyone yet. I'm not prepared to say Grisham is as bad as people say. I was on board when there were a ton of drops. But those have improved in recent seasons. I am very disappointed in CJ's recruiting as I thought players would be leaping at him. But I'm not ready to fire him yet. So no firings yet. But there are changes we could make right now:
1. Slap Dabo's hands away from the offense. He no longer has any right to micromanage that staff. We're paying Riley millions. Give him the reins to the offense. Let him do what he wants (though give him a strong encouragement to minimize the ####### bubble screens and utilize the TE more).
2. Bench Randall and Turner. They just don't have it. I think we've seen this over time, not just one game. I get Dabo really wants them to be stars, but it hasn't happened, and they're liabilities. We have receivers that could be excellent in an air raid: Williams, Brown, Stellato, and the freshmen. Let them do it.
3. Enroll Jake Briningstool in extra blocking practice. He's so bad at blocking it's becoming a serious problem. Have him work out with the offensive line some so Luke can improve his fundamentals. I was pleased with the improvement of the offensive line.
4. Have a serious talk with Cade. I don't think he was as bad as people say. But he has some serious mental issues holding him back. He's terrified to throw the ball unless the receiver is wide open. And he throws the ball to his checkdown every third down, short of the first down line. He MUST improve that if he wants to remain the starter. He needs to trust himself and throw the ball like he can. He causes more mistakes being so afraid of making mistakes (Ewers is an example of a QB who is fearless).
5. Flip Trent to second string. He's better than Vizzina, we've seen this multiple times. I would be prepared to try him out at QB if Cade can't improve in those areas.
I honestly don't know that I'd make any other changes. I think most of our receivers are okay and that we have two liabilities out there. Mafah is very good and we can't fix our lack of depth right now. Our offensive line was greatly improved in game 1.

Tigerpride this response to OP is much better than your first, IN MY OPINION. Hopefully I can state my opinion as well. OP is correct in "lier" being over the top...in my opinion.

There are plenty of people saying the season is over, they are going to find something else to do on Saturday, etc.
The people making "suggestion" don't even know how to diagram a play, so they have no idea how to fix anything.
Firing a bunch of people isn't going to fix the problem. The same people who swore up and down that Streeter was the problem are now saying Riley is the problem. The same people saying Grisham needs to be fired said Austin needed to be fired. The same people who said Klubnik was absolutely the answer are now saying he's a bust.
