FACTS - Trolls and Victims, please don't read.

Oct 30, 2022, 12:08 PM

It seems like the biggest gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands is now because ND and UL are going to be hard (or harder) games because of their weekend and our recent play. To paraphrase Dabo, "Winning ain't easy". We could lose any game (Except the coots, I won't consider that even in a hypothetical situation), but the only team that has any chance of beating us before the playoffs is Clemson.

After the ND/Syracuse game, what I think I hear is that their big O-line is a problem and they looked better against a common opponent.

Facts

ND had 22 1st downs against SYR and allowed 15
Clemson had 27 1st downs and allowed 17

ND ran up 362 total yards and allowed 286
Clemson ran up 450 total yards and allowed 291

ND (BIG O-line) ran for 246 yards and allowed 61
Clemson ran for 293 yards and allowed 124

ND passed for 116 yards and allowed 225
Clemson passed for 157 yards and allowed 167

Time of Possession - ND 37:40, SYR 22:20
Time of Possession - CU 33:54, SYR 26:06

Turnovers - ND had 1, SYR had 2
Turnovers - Clemson had 4, SYR had 1

I know the margin of victory is in NDs favor, but the freak 90 yard scope and score when we were about to score was the difference. Also, Garrett play the entire game and played great against us. I'm pretty sure he went into the ND game hurt and certainly didn't finish.

Louisville comparison using Wake

Facts

UL had 19 1st downs against Wake and allowed 29
Clemson had 25 1st downs and allowed 28

UL ran up 410 total yards and allowed 402
Clemson ran up 559 total yards and allowed 447

UL ran for 211 yards and allowed 92
Clemson ran for 188 yards and allowed 110

UL passed for 199 yards and allowed 310
Clemson passed for 371 yards and allowed 337

Time of Possession - UL 26:24, WAKE 33:36
Time of Possession - CU 37:34, WAKE 22:26

Turnovers - UL had 1, WAKE had 8 (Eight!)
Turnovers - Clemson had 0, WAKE had 0

It's obvious the TOs were the reason Wake didn't destroy UL.

None of the above means we don't need to play well, but I believe we will, I believe the timing of the bye week will prove to be a major asset going forward, and I believe we will finish 13-0.

Go Tigers
