Amazing how far we have come as a nation and superpower.

I remember when the B-17 stealth bomber was finally revealed to the public, it was already tested, manufactured, and combat ready. It was kept secret all the way until it was basically in use. Same with the SR-71. PR over national security, always best practice.

What the fork is a B-17 Stealth Bomber?

B-17 was the flying fortress with four prop engines. There was nothing stealth about it.

Sorry, B-2 bomber, F-117 was the other.

The F-117 was not made public until very late in the process.

Got to see the F-117 not long after it was made public at an air show

They flew it out in and out of the base at night as well.

Still haven't seen a B-2 in the air.

The B-2 was pretty badass.

The real fascinating part about this is that - by far - the most powerful lobby in Trump's administration is the so-called "PayPal Mafia" - Musk, Peter Thiel, Joe Lonsdale, Alex Karp, David Sacks, and Palmer Lucky - and thus far they have gotten pretty much zero of what they want.

They're big Ukraine backers. Palantir and Anduril both have contracts to build and upgrade Ukraine's drone force. Obviously, Donald seems to be on team Putin.

They're huge proponents of AI and data-driven analytics. Donald's trade war has jacked the prices up all over their supply chain, sending the cost of semiconductors soaring...and incidentally, hobbling the USA against China in the race for AI superiority. They are emphatically not tariff fans. It wouldn't particularly shock me to see Peter Thiel just up and shiv Trump's wingnut Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick right in the middle of a Rose Garden event. The PayPal Mafia is getting...restive.

They're huge proponents of the US defense industry and want to arm the US to the teeth...with their weapons. They think drones are the future. Donald's still supporting insanely pricey legacy equipment like the F-47 that they (correctly, IMHO) very much want to replace.

Palantir is also the backbone software for most government agencies, intel, DOJ, and DoD...they are to the US government, military, and intelligence services what Epic is for the medical community. Donald is going after the very institutions they have contracts with. (Elon could care less because he doesn't have skin in the game with Palantir, but the rest of them absolutely do.)

This is not the bunch you want to p!ss off, especially when you're as beholden to them as Donald is. Palantir knows everything the intel and military knows...if there's one outfit on the planet that likely has more kompromat on Donald than Putin, it's Palantir.

This definitely bears watching. Suffice it to say this is not even close to the administration they paid almost $300 million to get into office.

By the way, you can believe JD Vance is sincere about being "a proud member of both tribes" if you want to, I guess, but JD Vance was an outspoken Never Trumper until his miracle conversion to MAGA just before his 2022 Senate run. Whereas he's been Peter Thiel's pet project going all the way back to college.

Not so fast, Tiggity.

Was just reading about this on BBC. Apparently there are already about 1,100 that have been secretly deployed in the past couple years.
