Well w/ the acc adding ND and UL they will be able to redo the tv contract. I think fsu, clemson and etc will wait to see how much it is before they jump.

His role is to stir up speculation and hope there is a ground swell. These things are talked about because he says they are already being talked about.

as is being whispered, what does Clemson do? Evidently Barker and Wilkens appear to want to remain in the ACC. Would they throw Clemson football under the bus in order to be in a conference with academic powers?

CU is not going anywhere unless the SEC offers and that is not going to happen.

The lions share of the Clemson administration....

does not want to leave the ACC unless and until they have exhaused every possible opportunity to salvage and stabilize it. That is why barker worked so hard on the Notre Dame deal.
The concern is that while they are so focused and busy trying to salvage and stabilize the ACC, they're completly missing the bigger picture and losing-out on other better opportunities.
The administration needs to reshift its focus on doing what's best for Clemson and not the ACC.

leave and then be left holding the stinky ACC bag.
Conference with academic powers? What does that even mean? We have a chess match in a 80,000 seat stadium? A quiz bowl in the basketball arena?

...all this conference realignment stuff can anyone tell me something that The Dude has been correct on since we all started reading his blog and Twitter posts? It all seems like stream-of-consciousness babbling, combined with a major inferiority complex...

the big thing that supports GT to Big10 is academics....
Nov 29, 2012, 5:13 PM
|

...GT, more than any other ACC school, would benefit from the Big 10's academic consortium for research (Committee on Institutional Cooperation). The research triangle schools have a consortium to share research, but that doesn't support the other ACC members. GT's specialized engineering research would compliment the research at other Big10 schools.
Geography doesn't support GT except for market size, except Atlanta is easy to travel through. It wouldn't surprise me to see GT join the Big 10.
