If you had asked me if the US would ever tolerate a Autocrat

If you’d asked me a year ago, I’d say no way, coz we have systems set up against it. We have 3 branches of govt for example that are designed to keep each in check. Also I never thought we the people would let it happen. We look at other countries that rise up to tyranny and applaud, and long been a country that wanted to be an example of what a free society should look like. Before the election, when many knew this stuff would happen, many on here scoff and said “he won’t do that, why didn’t he do that in his 1st term” so many of you chalked it up to just talk… you know how New Yorkers speak in hyperbole blah blah

Sadly now I see that so many pubs cheer it on (they don’t dare say it aloud) but just want to “own the libs” and welcome an authoritarian. While the other 2 branches sit on their hands and do nothing. I have yet to see one pub on here say that’s to far. If you have speak up coz I may have missed it.

I hope folks will wake up and realize this clown is destroying this country brick by brick. But right now I’m not hopeful

I generally vote Republican, voted for Trump once, and support the quaint concept of Congress passing laws, the President and Executive Branch executing those laws and the Supreme Court ruling on if laws or actions are in line with the text of the Constitution.

I’m vehemently opposed to Executive Orders except in a true emergency and the same with judges making laws.

I’m not happy with the degree in which Trump is pushing the envelope or outright tearing through it.

There are plenty of right of center people on this site who traditionally vote GOP who feel exactly the same way and have stated so.

It’s a false equivalence, but Biden failing to enforce our laws on the border and allowing millions and millions of unvetted people into our country didn’t give me a warm fuzzy feeling either.

Using the FBI to spy on pro life Catholic groups and parents at school board meetings wasn’t cool either.

Obama using the IRS to threaten conservative groups wasn’t exactly heart warming either.

Trump will take a mile if given an inch. His autocratic tendencies are far beyond Biden, Obama, etc., but neither the Dems nor the Pubs have made much of an effort to counter him on the raft of EOs Trump has issued.

I heard him yesterday musing out loud about how he would like to send hardened US citizen criminals to prisons in other countries, but that he would need to check on the law regarding that.

I can help him with that. He can’t legally do that.

I still feel he’ll be gone in 2028 and will have his wings clipped significantly following the 2026 midterms.

By 2028, we’ll probably swing hard to the left which is a shame, but it will be due to Trump being Trump.

Then ends DEI crap, pronouns, men in girls sports, all these great social things conservatives thought were destroying the country.

Meanwhile he's wrecking the government we've had for 230ish years. Likely on purpose if I had to guess. It's like he's thought through the most destructive things he can do, and is doing them. All while hitting all the stupid social issues that people obsess about while missing the 800lb gorilla wrecking the place.

His friends seem to be the Argentina nut, Netanyahu, the Dictator of ElSalvador, and Putin. His enemies are Iran and almost every ally we had.

And it's finally coming together in a way that was unexpected. I don't think he counted on the dollar tanking. He's clueless. Dangerous. And makes sense only if you think the worst. Like that first wife you could never figure out. Then one day you catch her with the pool boy and figure her out perfectly, only when you think the absolute worst. And you're right on the wife. Think I'm going to be right with Trump. When bad stuff makes the most sense..... Sad.

Also,

In El Salvador, possessing or carrying a firearm requires a locally obtained license. Failure to comply with these licensing requirements can result in a prison sentence. The country has laws regulating firearm sales to security companies and restricts the import of certain high-caliber firearms. Additionally, El Salvador has implemented measures like background checks and mandatory safety courses for firearm purchases.

You are also guilty before proven innocent in that country. There are thousands of innocent people sitting in Jail for up to two years before a trial, assuming they get one, having to prove they are not a member of a gang. It is also well established there are innocent El Salvadorians in that prison, they do not care. They have a -20 tolerance policy.

Anyway, their president showed his true colors, and Trump was smirking when this guy said he had "no authority to let him out". He may want to be a little more cognizant of the fact Trump will not live forever, and if and when a new admin moves in, he is in trouble.

I think extreme liberalism breeds fascism. I drives people to fascism. That extreme liberalism is why we have Trump. That said, I think Trump will drive people more towards liberal economic ideas. The Libs still have a problem with identity politics issues and various other social issues that aren't popular.

That warped mind of yours is showing again.

And if you're a dog looking for crumbs, maybe your first stop shouldn't be at the bullsh**-dispenser known as Trump.

Or, maybe you're just desperate for a nice head-pat of approval from him, like a good boy. A nice, obedient, good dog.
