I'm not going to get super-worked up yet, until I see what exactly is done. The sausage-making is always ugly in Washington. And Trump often floats ideas that he has no intention of carrying out, but just as threats.
I have extremely low expectations for this incoming administration's ability to do anything good for the economy. Doing trade wars/tariff wars, etc, is like hearing a phone call from 1898 asking for it's economic policies back. During the first Trump admin, his trade policies resulted in a multi-billion dollar bailout for farmers. Just like his healthcare policies resulted in higher subsidies for ACA policies.
He's inheriting a very strong economy. That much we know.

Term one resulted in the election of a senile shadow President. At this rate, and with Trump also hinting at a national emergency so he can use the military to round up the illegals, we will probably say hello to President Newsom or worse in 2028.
The stupidity yesterday of Trump saying the military option was on the table regarding Panama and Greenland and the constant 7th grade taunting of our good neighbor Canada is just a foretaste of coming attractions.
It's a shame the choice was between a vapid Harris and a completely undisciplined blowhard.

Term one resulted in a country that collapsed during the pandemic, that required a complete clean-up by Biden, who is handing Trump back a country in much better shape than he found it.

He's back to his old tricks, and as with everything he says/does, I would watch more of what he "does" than what he "says". He's trying to project strength, and will likely end up cutting some sort of deal with Greenland/Panama/Canada for something that he could then trumpet to his base. Remember in his first term, he screamed about how awful NAFTA was. The end result was the MCUSA trade deal, which was essentially "NAFTA with some tweaks around the edges". But he acted like he'd don't the most incredible yuuuuuge deal in history.

It's insane the narrative that Republicans are better for the economy when modern economic history paints a totally different picture. It's always weird to watch people vote against their own self-interest while claiming the opposite.

bank accounts and economic situation and figure it out. Maybe all us plebeians should just continue to let the "credentialed elite class" have full control to tell us what is in our own best interests and just do as we are told... Good grief....

Isn't that also what just got elected into office? Now we've given the most wealthy man in the world more power over us, and he's not even an American?

It's not even just Elon, Trump wants to surround himself with other billionaires/grifters who are not qualified for their positions in his cabinet, and has already taken millions worth in "donations" from 'Big Tech' CEO's for his inauguration and yet guys like Tabby firmly believe it's the dems that are the elitists.
What's sad is that you know Trump and Company don't care one lick about their supporters or any of us "plebeians," but they know as long as they make their supporters keep thinking "others" are worse they will gladly keep supporting them and giving them money/power.

I'm sorry, Trump is "mulling" something? He's already publicly declared that he's going to rename the Gulf of Mexico, and annex Canada and Greenland.
And we're supposed to be paying attention to what he's merely "mulling"? Nuh uh.

Look, there’s nothing tricky here. Trump is a reality TV star that navigated his way into the White House. He’s not a leader. His understanding of economics and business is really pretty rudimentary.
The worst case scenario is he does implement some really hefty tariffs like 60%. See link.
The best case scenario is he continues to talk a big game, but doesn’t really do anything of substance during his four years. He never built the wall last time.
In the meantime, I’m gonna pretty much ignore him. Certainly not gonna watch any national news. It’s a complete waste of time to listen to him bark about Greenland or border walls or some Kardashian like gibberish. The dude is an idiot.
Hopefully next time around in 2028 we’ll elect a Republican.

are the way to go, though some specific tariffs may be the only alternative to 'flooding' of imports.
