Prime example of why I quit watching ESPN years ago. Their ranking system is of the same school of thought that tried to convince me men could have babies and had periods.

Duke Trended UP 1 while Clemson Held tight…
Notice the REM SOS RK 70th vs 75th.

Is this weekly? If so, it makes sense. The bad loss to GT balances out the good win vs Duke.

I don’t agree a triple OT loss carries the same weight as beating #2 on a nationally leading 16 game winning streak.

But okay, say I’m wrong. How does Duke move up in the power rankings?

I don't know, it's just math. This isn't voting like the AP Poll, it's just a mathematical formula. Something Houston did last week may have dropped them a hair and Duke slid up as a result.

Regarding our loss to GT and win vs Duke, they are the worst and best resume items of the season according to the NET, which is what the selection committee will look at.

Keep in mind, too, that all of these formulas are based on the full body of work. Winning a game today is no different than if we had won that same game in November. The calculations don't factor in date at all.

Those ESPN rankings are pretty much aligned with both NET and KenPom. Duke/Houston/Auburn are top 3 in each ranking, and Clemson is actually most favorably ranked by the ESPN metric.

ESPN/NET/KenPom:

Duke 1/2/2
Houston 2/3/3
Auburn 3/1/1
Clemson 24/30/29

2 things: Clemson had the worst loss of any top 30 team in the NET

ranking last week, and one of the best wins. Kind of evens out to us.

Also, I dont remember ESPN trying to teach me those things. Then again, I watch games mostly.
