ESPN

Dec 21, 2022, 2:59 PM

Has anyone heard that Disney is contemplating selling off ESPN and ABC? Possibly by the end of 2023?

If so, they anticipate bleeding a lot of money on those two

They would keep them if they were solid investments

ESPN has consistently fallen in viewership over the years. Number one reason, in my opinion, is who they have hired. Their studio employees are nothing but loud mouth, self centered wannabees. They try to out dress each other and are constantly downgrading certain coaches and universities while pumping up their favorites. Quite a few are borderline racists and no you don't have to white to be a racist. Most are extreme liberals judging from their comments. Here's to hoping ESPN folds under their present image.

Who would thought that being woke which is out of step with many of their viewers would drive away their customers? Folks want to watch and follow sports to escape from the rest of the world's troubles but ESPN wants to incorporate it into their programming.

Hope they do. They are bringing down my stock profits. Need to get them back to where they were.

It’s analyst conjecture regarding unlocking value

Disney - like most publicly traded companies - is always figuring out the best strategy forward. Outside analysts do the same. Here is some dude from Wells Fargo

This has been considered for several years

Financial and stock analysts have been screaming at Disney for some time to dump ESPN.

3-4 years ago, the Disney chairman got so annoyed at the chatter he blasted the idea and said it wouldn't happen. IMO, he thought it would change Disney's identity too much.

The loud chatter has resumed recently. This time around, I think the reasons to sell are more compelling because of economic circumstances.
