Every football program had its first year. Clemson would be smart to make it a farm team since it is so close.

Why not? Who’s to say they can’t have a football program.

Good for them... if they can afford it, why not? The students will love it.

Small schools do not care about making money on football because they are just looking to bring in students. Donors foot the bill initially and the hope is 100 football players will also create spots for girlfriends, friends, cheerleaders etc. Small schools are just looking for heads on beds.

Anderson University's enrollment for the 2022-2023 academic year stands at 4,117 students, the largest student body since the University welcomed its first class in 1911 and solidifying AU's status as the largest private university in South Carolina.
Once again, the facts say you are a no-Ron

Put your fingers on the keyboard. Bobby Lamb is a class act who has spent most of his life in northeast Georgia and northwest South Carolina. He restarted football at Mercer and won 10 games in season one. He is doing the same thing at Anderson. At an open scrimmage last October, more than 6,000 people attended. That’s more than most SAC regular season games. Anderson has built fabulous facilities, facilities that most Division II programs would love to have. There are 125 players in the program, including several from the transfer portal. In 2023, all they did was practice. That is a tremendous commitment. Football will have a positive effect on the student body at AU. Last year’s freshman class numbered more than 1,000. Anderson is closing in on 5,000 students. Anderson is now the largest private school in the state of South Carolina. Anderson football will do well. The community is excited about the program.

If Erskine, Newberry, and Limestone make it work, it can be done. Wonder why Winthrop and Lander as growing state schools have not thought about it.

I didn’t realize Erskine had a team until reading your post. Google tells me they didn’t have a program from 1952 to 2018. Big time in Due West.

I attended their Fall and Spring games

They have a LOT of work to do. I'm not sure they will win any games this Fall.
As far as the money goes, they have tons of it from big donors.
What they need to do is improve their restrooms, concessions, and perimeter fencing of the football field.
