I'm not worried about our defense, but in this era of college football, I don't care how good your defense is. If you can't move the ball and score a lot, you won't be a serious contender.

I couldn't agree with you more bc FB games are won by keeping your opponent from scoring while at the same time you must score to win. Regardless of what the numbers are at the end, it has to be good guys 1-0 for the win...

However, back in the early/mid 70s, Daniel High School won a playoff game 2-0. I think it may have been versus Easley, idk. Musta been a boring defensive game.
Daniel had a Parade All-American running back at the time named Millard Dawson. Guess he couldn't find the endzone that day. Dawson went to Ole Miss, but got homesick and came back after freshman year. Another example of unrealized potential.

Keep in mind fellow that top defensive coaching and top defensive players are a lot more plentiful than they are on the offensive side of the ball, and the best offensive coaches and offensive players are much harder to come by, and there is a huge shortage of them to go around for 134 D-1 teams!!!
