Seriously doubt Williams tore ACL or any other ligament

Saw him casually walking to the locker room later on. Trust me, from someone who has torn an ACL, you can't just walk unassisted like nothing happened. No way. And for those who like to say he "partially tore it", like my orthopedic surgeon said, "it's like being pregnant, you're either pregnant, or you're not, but there is no such thing as being partially pregnant.'

That it's not torn because he can walk.

I tore my ACL before as well I had to be helped to walk if I didn't have crutches for maybe a couple of weeks and then I went and had surgery. That said, I have seen people walking like he was walking with a torn MCL or ACL. It's shocking. I dob't get how it is possible, but I have seen it. That said, hopefully he isn't one of those guys and it's just sprained knee.

Docs say there have been cases where there was NO pain.
Jan 11, 2022, 5:40 PM

Or a whole LOT of pain, but no cases of in-between or "some" pain.
Not the same as an ACL in severity (at least it would seem not from injury articles), but stories after John Elway retired said he played pretty much his whole career without one MCL.
I seem to remember DW4's case, he said his pain came mostly from having to wear that constrictive knee brace. Either he didn't have much pain, or he has one HALL of a high pain tolerance.
And, we also know from DW4's case that A One Legged Man CAN in fact, ipso facto, Win an A$$ Kicking Contest!

Some people like to compare Cade Klubnik with Deshaun because Deshaun was skinny coming in etc etc. Deshaun was just a freak at what a beating he could take. I doubt Cade can do that.
On a different note, DeJuan Blair who played for the San Antonio Spurs for 7 years and a couple years at Pitt in college and at both spots he played without ACL's in either knee which he lost in high school.

Time will tell. It could potentially be a PCL. There was for sure a hyperextension. Hopefully it was just a hyperextended knee without any ligament tears.

Let’s ask Deshaun if one can walk after tearing a ligament. I’m willing to bet he has an opinion.

Might be a MCL tear. I had a buddy of mine tear his a while back and was playing basketball a few days after he tore it.

It looked like it might be like that UGA RB (I think) a few years back whose knee cap went backwards all the and it was basically just hyperextended and no damage.

He definitely torn his ACL. Look at the slo-mo when his knee gives out and you can see the knee joint shift and then go back into place. In orthopedics, that's called a pivot-shift and indicates ACL tear

I ended up having total reconstruction done on it. I could walk that night without too much pain. When it landed certain ways it would shoot piain all the way up my body. It wasn’t until the swelling and fluid set in the next morning that it got to the point I couldn’t walk. At that level I would imagine they drained the fluid in the locker room before he came out. It looked in the replay like an ACL.

I 100% tore my ACL. Felt it pop. Never went down. Didn't hurt, just swelled up that night. I never had pain, just lost range of motion. Everyone is different.

I’ve torn my left acl twice. Very painful for just a while. If no cartilage damage, pain should subside quickly. Cartilage damage is more painful than torn acl. DW4 whipped the coots on one leg. I remember Coy Detmer playing with one leg also. It can be done, just be ready for the leg to throw you again at any given time.( braced or not).

I tore my ACL, MCL, LCL and a pretty good chunk of meniscus and walked to my car once the initial pain and shock/numbness wore off.
I don't know if he tore something or not but an athlete in his condition would easily be able to walk on a freshly torn ACL.

I walked around unassisted until surgery 6 weeks later. It's dependent on person.
Also, If I recall correctly, there was a VT running back a while back that tore his ACL in practice and kept practicing, running, etc. Found out next day he'd torn his ACL after MRI for soreness.

Just piling on here, but I agree with several of the posters.
I tore my ACL, it hurt. But I could walk unassisted. You could definitely see his ACL pop in the slo-mo. I have friends that tore ACLs and never had them fixed. They are mostly fine for everyday activity (not football); one is a fireman.
