If Alabama runs the table this year, they'll have 63 wins

Nov 8, 2013, 10:08 AM

In a five-year stretch. Which school currently holds the (FBS/Div. I-A) record with 61 wins over a 5-year stretch?

Under Barry Swittzer Oklahoma had run have winning something like 73 out of 75 games.

Not quite that good, but almost.

Nov 8, 2013, 10:19 AM

The best they did then over a five-year stretch was 54-3. Keep in mind my question was about total # of wins, not necessarily best win percentage.

Because That's more than 12 wins a year which would've been impossible pre conference championship game.

I know Nebraska had a great run starting around 1993, At the time it was referenced as one of the best runs ever, so that'll be my guess.

Nov 8, 2013, 11:31 AM

Boise St., 2006-2010 (61-5)
Alabama, 2008-2012 (61-7)
Oklahoma, 2000-2004 (60-7)
Nebraska, 1993-1997 (60-3)

I should have originally said that Alabama is currently tied for the most wins, with 61 over the five years previous to this one.

I am most impressed with Nebraska's

60 and 3 though. One less win in 3-5 less chances.

Also 10 wins doesn't mean a hill of beans these days when it can be achieved with 4 losses.
