Does the baseball hire excite you for the Bkball hire Neff...

Could make after next season, or later?
What would be the equivalent in bkball?
A hire from a power 6 job who went to the NCAAT at least half the time with a run like a sweet sixteen or better?
Ot would it be just a good midmajor coach? I would have been fine with that after this past season looking at some of the good coachs that were hired.
If he payed over $1 million for a baseball coach can Neff do around $3.5 million+ for a new bkball coach?
Ot is the baseball hire going to strap that for bkball...

It’s like us going to a lesser P5 basketball conference (pac12 maybe?)

and taking one of their best coaches. Hard to find another comparison because the situations are not exactly apples to apples. Clemson Baseball can flex that muscle to attract top coaches but I don’t think Basketball can do that. And plus, the ACC in baseball is better/more committed than the Big 10 is. Can’t say the same about basketball.

So Neff just announced a commitment to fund the basketball program a couple of months ago. So why would you expect him to fire CBB before the increased support has a chance to impact the program? Of course if the team lays an egg next year (losing record for example) i could see a change but given the talent returning i would thing making the tournament is more likely than a losing record.
Here's an idea. Instead of sowing dissent why not simply try to support the team?

Considering Bakich had 1 great run as HC, the equivalent in basketball would be Frank Martin.

Yes. I hope GN means business with basketball results as well as baseball results. Our basketball program and coach are sub mediocre.

It takes a departure from reality and complete dismissal of the facts to say CBB is sub mediocre. By any reasonable measure he has been good (not great) at Clemson.

Yeah. As a coach Brad registers as mediocre, not sub, at least during his ACC tenure. From an ROI standpoint though, considering how much extra money and resources he's had to work with from a salary and facilities standpoint than his predecessors, ranking 4th out of 5 since the 1980's checks in as sub-mediocre.

And yet his won loss is similar (one or two wins per season +/-) to the very best of the five you mentioned. Facilities are no different than the others as fan amenities do not impact players while other peer schools such as VT and NCSU were building a state of the art basketball only facility.

So you are saying our ROI with Brad has been better than Ellis, Barnes, and Purnell? We know where Shyatt ranks on this list. Salaries and facility investments, compared to W/L and attendance/enthusiasm?
Meant to word that "and/or".

One other point is we would have had to rebuild LJ regardless of the coach given it was condemned. Other investment for things like player amenities have been minimal. Coaching salaries are similar if you taking into account the inflation across the board. Perhaps if Barnes or OPP had stayed longer they would have gotten a sweetheart contract based on longevity but they flew off to greener pastures.

Really hope Brad can get the program turned around and become the coach we hoped for when he was first hired. I'm just afraid that if it hasn't happened by now it never will. Their are dozens of non-power 5 teams that pay coaches way less that what Brad is earning and don't put as much $ in their basketball programs than we do.
