I think one reason Riley didn't have the year we were expecting is he didn't bring anyone from his staff he worked with at TCU and SMU

I doubt any HC lets their coordinator hire their coaches

They can recommend a coach in hopes of getting them an interview with the HC

Head Coaches, as a rule, don't let coordinators choose the staff. Neither Venables or Morris brought coaches with them nor to my knowledge do any other coordinators.

If Dabo is smart, and he is, he sits down and discusses the needs , strengths and qualifications that they both are looking for and then goes through a process.

and hiring someone Riley had a problem with, that would just be defeating the purpose of everybody working toward the same goals.
