I give Dabo my support. But based on the comments he offered today, I would say he is at a complete loss for what to do and how to fix this football team this season.
I believe you say "It's in God's hands or God's plan" when you yourself have no idea or feel out of or unable to control the outcome.
I was surprised and disappointed in Dabo's comments. Many on Tigernet have voiced one of the reasons: Best is the standard is no longer true. It moved to We try our Best to now we pray for the best.
That is extremely disappointing. He is not perfect. He is human.. But he also is a head coach and experienced in building, motivating and leading young men to achieve and perform their best . He is not a person that needs to proselytize as that is not his priority one job. He is a football coach.
To many of us, it is clear that a reckoning must come to the entire football team. Accountability, Discipline, Strength, Toughness, and Execution must improve and increase.
Those are in these coaches' and players' hands. They have 100% control of all of those issues.
I feel Dabo can lean on his faith to help him, but I do not feel he should lean on his faith to correct these flaws and issues.
Ownership and Action fall in Dabo's hands now. He must lead these young men to that and he must practice more than preach.
Actions resonate much louder than words, especially under the banners and guise of Best Is The Standard.
To many of us, it is clear that a reckoning must come to the entire football team. Accountability, Discipline, Strength, Toughness, and Execution must improve and increase.
The first person who needs to be held accountable is Dabo - and he seems to be laying it off on God. I realize he's said he needs to improve and that he's accountable, but I'm not sure he's accepted it deep down.
