I’m not sure if anyone talked about it here, but I heard on Bobby Hartin’s show that the women’s NIT no longer has the Sweet 16 but the Super 16.
He was talking about the Clemson girls basketball team and mentioned that the NIT had changed the name. Did the NCAA tournament do this on the women’s side as well?
We didn’t make the NCAA tournament and I don’t follow women’s basketball so this was news to me.
So let me guess, saying sweet in any context involving girls and women is somehow misogynistic? Is that the insane logic they’re using for this?
So a term that has nothing to do with sex or gender that started with the NCAA men’s basketball tournament is now somehow problematic because we have a women’s NCAA and NIT tournament?

The finals were always held in NY too BUT NOT THIS YEAR. The NIT folks have changed several things to make the tournament better which equals more $...marketing the new Las Vegas site this year plus others already planned in the future has impacted what the semi-finals and final are called...not called the Final 4 (and not the Elite 8 either). New labels to differientiate from the main tournament to avoid copyright law infringement thru new marketing plan.
