Just don’t watch it.
I’m general, they’re awful. Have been for a while. I can’t remember the last one I suffered through. Probably at someone else’s house. It’s a good time to..do just about anything else. If you sit through it, it’s your own fault.

Coming from someone who isn't a rap fan but much younger this was better than that Rhianna thing 2 years ago and I legitimately forgot last years. Kendricks's music is at least listenable

Small minority? That artist just won 4 grammy awards and has multiple songs off if his recent album with over 200,000,000 streams. He is coming to my city and has sold out a professional football stadium.
It's not my cup of team - but he's one of the premier artists of today's pop culture.

your parents generation most definitely had a similar sentiment about whatever super bowl halftime show featured music you enjoyed.
When Elvis was popular, "adults" hated it. When The Rolling Stones / Led Zeppelin was popular, "adults
" hated it.
Kendrick Lamar, Rhianna, The Weekend, Bruno Mars, etc have all evoked similar reactions.

I didnt enjoy last nights halftime show. I was talking with my fiance. The Dr. Dre, Snoop, Eminem, 50 cent show was pretty good. Also enjoyed the Katie Perry show back in 2015. I think the secret is to have music that has standed the test of at least a decade. Nobody that isnt into current rap knows the Kendrick songs he was playing last night. But everyone knew the songs from Dr. Dre's set list. But overall, last nights show was boring and seriously lacked any sort of creativity.

I thought it was an extended bad commercial. Didn’t realize it was the halftime “show” until someone said “No, that’s it” ..Duh, no music and couldn’t understand a word “said” (not sang) .. I guess the NFL will pay anyone for anything ..like an ol’ Dire Straits song “Money For Nothing” …

when the NFL hired Roc Nation (i.e., Jay-Z), to handle the halftime shows, the performances have gotten worse IMO.
I guess I'm just getting old and miss the days of artists like Prince, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, U2, the Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney.

shred of credibility, they should invite 4-6 high school marching bands and pay for a weekend of tours, fellowship between the bands, etc.
They get to perform on the biggest stage and a great football game tradition is carried forward

I play multiple musical instruments and produce music for other artists and bands. you saying they dont have melody is laughable. But anything that isn't in 4/4 time and more than 100 BPM probably causes you to go crazy.

Most rock bands would refuse to play the super bowl because they make you play to pre recorded tracks and lip sing. I remember a few years ago Muse played some awards show, and in protest they all switched instruments because it was all pre-recorded and fake. Singer was just beating on the drums, drummer singing, guitarist playing keyboard etc.

You guys all sound like you are either salty Kendrick was the performer, or you have no idea about what is popular. I actually saw some clown on here saying Kendrick is niche. He has the biggest song in the world in "Not Like Us". Someone said people don't know the Kendrick song he played last night. Did you miss the ENTIRE STADIUM sing the "A minor" line ? A bunch of bad faith arguments that hold no water.

We have had to endure halftime performances like this for years. Very poor entertainment for most people. I think this is typical WOKE and DEI agenda by the NFL that has been their game plan for years. The great majority of the so called entertainment were by blacks. Yet the majority of the viewers were non black. National anthem was O.K. A least it was not the screaming and untraditional renditions we have heard in the past. Let's get back to enjoyable entertainment by multiple races with music that is actually good music by people that actually sing. Nope, not a racist. Just stating facts.

It's WOKE to have one of the biggest names of New Orleans music play the National Anthem in a style reminiscent to the culture of New Orleans while playing a game in New Orleans?
The entire intro to the game was about New Orleans music. Nothing to do with DEI or WOKE...
The halftime performance was by an artist that just won 4 Grammy's and is at the pinnacle of pop music today. His songs are listened to by all races. In a majority white crowd you could hear the stadium singing the words to his song.
No one who isn't racist has ever said something and then made sure you knew they weren't racist.

"Music that is actually good" is subjective. There's millions that watched the performance that probably loved it. Everyone's social media timeline had different responses.
I don't even hardly listen to hip hop anymore but who you like, versus who I like or who someone else likes is not an agreed upon thing.
If they had Elton John or some mega superstar play the Super Bowl you'd still have 50 million people calling him a geezer and saying he sucked. It's all subjective and nobody will ever be happy with the pick.
