Since a helium-filled balloon launch from the field as the Tigers run down The Hill is bad, how about a new tradition of having a water-filled balloon drop on the opposing team as they enter the field. Then we could easily sweep up the balloons afterwards and all the Tiger fans would be happy again.

There was NO legit reason to have done away with the biodegradable balloons. It dramatically took a lot away from the game day experience, and the 25 most exciting seconds of college football. To top it off, we caved to the Peta type group, but yet hypocritically use older balloon release videos to promote the Clemson game day experience.
If you want to cave to stupid you should at least be proud of your caving!

Taking away the balloons has significantly damaged our pregame experience! It definitely takes away from most exciting 25 seconds... As you mentioned, as proof look no further than how the university, ESPN and the ACC continue to use the visual images with the balloons in the entrance to promote the football product! This will ultimately do nothing but hurt the fan experience and Clemson branding efforts on TV. There should be some way to bring them back. The fireworks are nice but not at all the same. A small group of activists made this decision and it seems the majority connected with the university, fans and alumni have no voice.

Loggerheads on the coast were found with orange balloons inside of them. They mess with ecosystems. Think about the Earth your kids will live on before you call "peta type groups" stupid

I absolutely do not believe your post as it implies that the balloons (if there ever truly were balloons in turtles) came from Clemson. Had this been true the evidence would have been spread far and wide throughout Clemson nation. The balloons simply do not hold enough helium and are semi porous. No way they could have survived long enough to make it all the way to the ocean from Clemson. Peta has been driving this desire for decades, and for decades have had no evidence to justify their power trip. Had there ever been any real such thing happen, they would NOT have kept to themselves, but rather seen to that it be plastered on every front page of every newspaper across the nation.

The entrance is just not the same without them. While the may not be totally safe for the environment, I think it's a copout to eliminate them because a very small minority demanded it. I don't want an animal choking to death because it ate one of our balloons, but you have to pick your battles. I feel this battle resembles a schoolyard fight. Better to just have them work it out than to kick them out of school.

The much much much bigger problem is the plastic cups and water bottles they sell in Death Valley. Which, by the way, no longer get recycled since China stopped taking out recycled plastic. The balloons are not even a drop in the swimming pool.

What if we had a couple of giant tiger paw shaped balloons tethered to a cable. Maybe one on each side of hill (or even on the road outside of hill). Let them go up when they run down. Depending on weather could just stay up whole game or reel back in at half/end of quarter?

The entrance is still extremely exciting. Yall make fun of South Carolina for having gimmicky fire extinguisher smoke during their entrance but then spend the last two years whining about balloons.

I've flown thousands of hours over the Atlantic, Pacific, Artic, North Sea. Med, GOM, and Caribbean. Some of ya'll have no concept of truly how big this world is. The likelihood a balloon rises to such a level and doesn't pop long before it gets to the coast is small. The likelihood it lands in a place where a turtle feeds is even smaller. The likelihood the turtle, after a bite, isn't smart enough to determine it isn't food is even smaller.
Is it litter? Absolutely. But it's such a small percentage of what's out there, its insignificant. I dare anyone to find one shard of orange or white balloon from a Clemson release.
