did coach Brownell get a new assistant oe

what did he do different from last year.I have never seen improvement like in Thomas and Grantham from one yr. to the next in any Brownell coached player

the staff has shown as much accomplishment since Earl Grant left to become HC at College of Charleston a couple of years ago.....yet even with that, there was the loss of the previous year's leading scorer every year Coach Brownell's been there (I think) and a long mediocre recruiting spell until some of the transfers have begun to pan out.
Almost don't want to analyze the improvement for fear it'll disappear....just keep winning guys!!

Coach Bender took over the guards when he came back from College of Charleston and their production has gone up significantly.

It sucks in positive waves from the Cosmos and over time, these good vibrations spread throughout the immediate environs and make good things happen to all things and creatures in its “sphere of influence”. Also, taking it to the hoop ! Kicking out to the open man ! And playing defense like mad men might be a factor too.

I agree that he is doing a fantastic job with Thomas and Grantham this year, but you are forgetting Nnoko improved a ton from year 1 to year 2. The miracle was getting Sidy Djitte from downright attrocious to where he was a very solid (yes he had foul trouble) big man for us. We hate on CBB alot (and lots of times derservedly), but he has done a very solid job developing the players that he gets IMO.

is a better coach than you give him credit for?
Plenty of players have improved considerably under his watch. The difference this year is that we have multiple players who can score 20 points on any given night, and other teams have to respect that.
The talent increase is the result, in part, to finally having good facilities in year 7 of his tenure.

there are some changes on the staff. antonio reynolds-dean replaced big mike wineki (sp?), who is now coaching in the "D league" or whatever they call it now. Boogie McEntyre (again, sp?) joined in a jeff Davis type role. also terrance Oglesby is back finishing his degree and serving as a GA/student mgr type.

Boogie and TO can not by NCAA rules do any on the floor coaching. They are involved with the program but not in that capacity.

he appears to be a true leader on the court
he's always had the talent; he's just so much more consistent this year
and DeVoe has grown into a good player from the deer-in-headlights look when he first stepped on the court
