and there is no other reason than she spoke out and acted out against Trump's actions/inactions on Jan 6.

She was in the House GOP leadership and is very conservative politically...but she spoke out against Trump...therefore she's liberal and a democrat.

What a sad state of affairs that putting country before party/person loyalty is so distasteful to the MAGA crowd. So sad and so telling.

It is easy to like and admire anyone who takes an oath and acts on it. She demonstrated that she is not just another political animal.

Since 2002 or so I have had disdain for any and all things Cheney. I saw and see her dad as a/the major force in the “Be afraid” message and the “America is too weak” message … two messages that lead our nation in the wrong direction and messages that I will not follow.

When she acted correctly against the unconstitutional reality of DJTrump my blinders came off and my respect for her went way way up.

She be very worried that Trump might win POTUS again.

Her well founded fears that she and several of her cohorts in the sham J6 investigation will be investigated themselves, and found to be part of the J6 FedSurrection conspiracy.

Thus, she is worried that she’ll be imprisoned for her attempt to corrupt the federal bureaucracy to accomplish political goals.

These Are the 5 People Who Died in the Capitol Riot
A police officer was beaten, a rioter was shot, and three others died during the rampage.

Follow live updates on the House committee hearing on the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

UPDATE: New information has emerged regarding the death of the Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick that questions the initial cause of his death provided by officials close to the Capitol Police.

One had dreamed of becoming a police officer and was injured in a clash with rioters. One was an Air Force veteran and a fervent supporter of President Trump who was shot by the police. Three others were Trump loyalists — including one who sold kangaroos dressed like the president — who suffered what the authorities called “medical emergencies.”

These five people from disparate backgrounds and different corners of the country now share one fate: Their lives all ended last week as a mob incited by Mr. Trump stormed the Capitol.

Federal prosecutors have opened investigations into the deaths of two — the officer beaten by pro-Trump rioters, and the California woman shot inside the Capitol. But the authorities have released limited information about the deaths of the others, while families and friends have been grappling with scattered accounts of their final actions that day.

Here is what we know about each of them and how they died.

Brian Sicknick
After serving in the Air National Guard and dreaming of becoming a police officer, Brian D. Sicknick joined the Capitol Police force in 2008. He died the day after he was overpowered and beaten by rioters from the mob at the Capitol.

Law enforcement officials initially said Officer Sicknick was struck in the head with a fire extinguisher, but medical experts have said he did not die of blunt force trauma, according to one law enforcement official. Instead, investigators increasingly believe that Officer Sicknick may have been sprayed in the face with mace or bear spray, the official said.

“He returned to his division office and collapsed,” the Capitol Police said in a statement. “He was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.”

In a statement on Monday, his family described Officer Sicknick, 42, as “truly a lovely, humble soul” with a diligent work ethic, and said he was devoted to his job at the Capitol. His family said he also loved and spoiled his dachshunds.

Officer Sicknick was hailed as a hero by politicians across the political spectrum. The United States Attorney’s office in Washington opened a federal homicide investigation into his killing, though no one has been charged so far.

‘Brian is a hero’Officer Sicknick’s death amplified the tragedy of Wednesday’s riots and undermined President Trump’s pro-law-enforcement claims.
Ashli Babbitt
Ashli Babbitt, 35, an Air Force veteran from Southern California, was shot and killed by a Capitol Police officer as she clambered through a broken window leading to the Speaker’s Lobby inside the Capitol.

Her last moments, captured from multiple angles on video, show Ms. Babbitt, a Trump flag knotted around her neck, being hoisted to the window as others in the mob shout. Moments later, a shot rings out and Ms. Babbitt falls back, blood pouring from her mouth.

The U.S. attorney in Washington also announced it was conducting an excessive-force investigation following her death, which officials called a “routine, standard procedure whenever an officer deploys lethal force.”

In her social-media feeds, Ms. Babbitt had celebrated Mr. Trump and QAnon conspiracy theories, and her shooting instantly made her a martyr for far-right activists and Trump loyalists.

A ‘rallying cry’Far-right and white nationalist groups online are holding up Ms. Babbitt’s death as proof that they have been wronged.
Kevin Greeson
Kevin D. Greeson, 55, of Athens, Ala., was standing in a throng of fellow Trump loyalists on the west side of the Capitol when he suffered a heart attack and fell to the sidewalk. He was talking on the phone with his wife at the time.

Kristi Greeson, his wife, said in an interview that Mr. Greeson had high blood pressure and she had not wanted him to travel to Washington. But she said Mr. Greeson believed the election had been stolen and saw the Jan. 6 rally as “a monumental event.”

In a statement to a local news channel, his family remembered Mr. Greeson as a good father and motorcycle enthusiast and said he “was not there to participate in violence or rioting, nor did he condone such actions.”

But NBC News reported that Mr. Greeson appeared to have made several combative posts on Parler, a social-media haven for Trump supporters. An account featuring his name and picture urged the violent, far-right Proud Boys group to give “hell” to antifa, a loose confederation of far-left activists. A post in December urged direct action, NBC reported: “Load your guns and take to the streets!”

Rosanne Boyland
Rosanne Boyland, 34, of Kennesaw, Ga., posted fervently in support of President Trump on social media, followed the baseless conspiracy theories of QAnon and latched onto Mr. Trump’s false claims that he had won the election, family members told The Associated Press.

Ms. Boyland appears to have been killed in a crush of fellow rioters during their attempt to fight through a police line, according to videos reviewed by The Times.

She is deeply worried because her political theater, from a position of being a member of congress, was intended to illegally prosecute a person of a crime that he didn’t commit.

Trump and insurrection? N3ver happened. Why do I know 5his? Because the federal government never even bothered to indict him for this.

Why did the govt fail to indict Trump of insurrection? Because, in the discovery process for the defense, all of the federal govt’s J6 information … not just the video / audio clips from both govt and private sources, but also the entirety of federal govt e-mails, analysis of the tapes, communications between the J6 prosecutors + J6 judges (pre-trial & post-trial) of the vast majority of J6 protesters who entered the Capitol, but for whom their only ‘crime’ was trespassing.

Why would the federal govt be so concerned about what the discovery process might yield? After all, if the federal govt was being honest and honorable with respect to their behavior immediately preceding J6 and the day of J6 itself, then there would be no reason to worry; thus, they could indict and convict that rascal Trump once and for all.

So, why again is the federal govt never going to indict Trump as an insurrectionist? Because doing so would be their Hiroshima & Nagasaki.

My opinion is complicated. She is?/was a conservative and voted 93% in support of Trump's agenda. She voted against impeaching Trump regarding Ukraine.

After January 6th, she turned against Trump and chose to risk her political future to come hard against Trump. Her choice cost her the seat in Congress she held from WY.

I admire anyone who chooses a stance on principle knowing this is not going to benefit them and will probably hurt them.

However, she has lost me completely when she says she will campaign for Dems to try to wrest the House away from the GOP in case Trump wins.

Joe Scarborough used to be a reliable conservative too. I understand her reasons for coming after Trump related to Jan 6th, but she's lost her way in my opinion if she prefers a Dem controlled House. I fear more the possibility of Biden back again with the House and the Senate far more than Trump with the House or both the House and Senate.

However, I most certainly don't want a Democrat run House and hope the Senate shifts to the GOP. I don't know of many conservatives who do nor agree with those who take her stance.

I don't see that having potentially Biden with both the House and the Senate is putting the country first.

I don’t think she has lost her way at all. I think she is still as conservative as she ever was. However, she realizes (like many of us do) that the only thing that matters right now is keeping Trump out of the WH. Period.

The funny (and also extremely sad) part is that Republicans had a chance, a real chance, to move on from Trump and just couldn’t nut up and do it. A lot of big talk in here after J6 about no longer supporting Trump…but slowly but surely all the rates have slunk back onto the ship to suckle at the teat of Trump.

If keeping Trump out of the WH. Period., is your stance and Liz Cheney's, why then campaign against the GOP in an attempt to turn the House over to the Dems?

Those are two separate issues.

I'll vote 3rd party for President, but absolutely hope the GOP takes over the Senate and holds the House.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I see what you're saying. But her motives make sense...

She sees Trump as a big threat to the security of this country. And she also sees the Republicans in the House as people who are largely in Trump's back pocket. So, it makes sense to oppose the House GOP as a group, because they'd be nothing more than a rubber stamp for MAGA if they were in power at the same time that Trump is in power.

Cheney is a conservative who threw away her political career by standing up to Trump. I think Mitt Romney is similar in that regard in the Senate, although he's not as conservative as Cheney from a policy standpoint. I respect them both. In fact, I voted for Romney in 2012, and more than ever, I'm proud that I did. He's shown quite a backbone since he's been in the Senate.

I never thought much about her either way. I didn't even really mind her coming out against Trump once she decided he was an insurrectionist, or whatever, even if I disagreed with her. However the way the J6 committee became a complete #### show of blatant partisanship with her as the individual who supposedly gave it a "bipartisan" cloak of legitimacy was a bridge too far for me. Add in the fact she basically has decided she now hates the entire Republican party, and she's shown her true colors as someone who is more interested in media approval than representing her constituents or having any core values beyond "orange man bad". She's scum just like her father.

It’s too bad neither Liz or Nikki are keeping it real like Trump. Trump registered in 1987 as a Republican. He subsequently has changed his political affiliation 5 times, vacillating between the GOP, Democrat and Independent.

Glad he and you are calling out the RINOS as Trump has been such a solid Republican.
